I’m giving this a 3 star because we love the food here , and the majority of the staff are lovely and so attentive .
Me and my partner usually come here maybe twice a month , we love the food and it’s a clean and tidy place to eat local with a bonnie breakfast that you can get later in the day than most places .
The past couple of times we have come we have noticed a particular member of staff be quite rude to us when she is serving us - the first few times we put it down to a bad day but now its stopping us from coming back as she doesn’t seem to be like it with anyone else or is she . Do we just not fit the part because we aren’t well to do looking and we’re young ?
We come in last week and there was 1 table available of 4 seats and 2 tables of 2 seats - the window bar seating . To be fair to other customers coming in we chose to sit at a 2 seater so that there’s space for others upon arrival as it was a busy time of day .
We were sitting near the kitchen and I didn’t realise how noisy it could get especially with the ladies toilets behind and the hand dryer going off , unfortunately , I got a little bit of a sensory overload and requested if we could move near the window where it would be quieter one waitress no worries there’s a seat available ( there was also the massive table in the centre available too ) - then this particular waitress decided to mumble under her breath “ there’s a table of four coming in whilst giving me a dirty look “ and not in a nice manner , with that I turned around and said never mind and sat down in my seat it completely ruined my breakfast with my partner if I hadn’t ordered I would have walked out . another waitress said “ would you like that table “ politely as I think she picked up on the mumble that I received - again there was another massive table available that the 4 people coming in could have sat at aswell as the window seat I was requesting to move to . We get served with a face that is like we are beneath her everytime we come in and I don’t understand why? We are always polite - we clear our table and always say Thankyou for the brilliant food and service. My mum also come to visit and noticed how she was towards us too. Please keep in mind not all disability’s are visible and sometimes there’s a reason these types of requests are sometimes asked with out having to tell the whole place why someone may want to move - hopefully this gets taken on board as we are local and love this place but we aren’t in a rush to return because of this . Sorry for...
Read moreMe, my wife & daughter have been coming here every 2 or 3 Saturday mornings for breakfast since finding out about it around 4 months ago. It was the first place I have given 10/10 on 4 or 5 occasions. I had a large breakfast & pot of tea instead of the usual mocha as it's getting less chocolatey with every visit! my wife had poached eggs on toast & hot chocolate, my daughter had the pancake stack, maple syrup, bacon & yep you guessed...a coke!!😂 We were last there 2 weeks ago & tbh not sure if I will go back! My large breakfast had massively undercooked eggs (slime all over the place) toast was not even close to toasted, barely hot bread & tea had one very week teabag, couldn't get any colour out of it. Poached eggs were atrocious,🤮 my wife sent it back & didn't want anything else as she felt sick, both completely raw inside & filled with slime & the toast was slightly hotter than mine. Daughter was happy with the pancakes though 👍 The young lady asked if my wife would like anything else, she replied no thanks. No apologies & nothing was mentioned apart from a yes when I asked if the poached eggs were removed from my bill. It seems that the easiest thing to cook (eggs) & not to mention the healthiest item is always the hardest thing for cafes to get right & the amount of places I have avoided due to this continues to grow. I'm hoping this was a one off as the eggs have been perfect every other time. I may give it another shot in the future & will update...
Read moreWill preface this by saying the food is very nice; however rather let down by the surly, unwelcoming attitudes of some staff members. It was reasonably busy (7-8 covers) on a Sunday brunch, we waited to be seated and when we were sat the waitress said 'I'll give you a couple of minutes'. 15 minutes later a different waitress (blonde/grey hair and glasses) came to take our order. However, instead of saying 'Hello, how are you? What would you like' she just stood there, silent, note-pad in hand, like it was a major inconvenience. We ordered, to which she curtly replied 'it's a 35 minute wait for food'. Ok, fair enough, but why not say something along the lines of 'Just to let you know we're quite busy, would you be happy to wait x amount of time?' before the customer's place their order. When the food came out, it was not delivered with any politeness. All-in-all we were there over an hour and half, which is a bit too long for a couple of poached egg dishes. Maybe we just attended on a day where the staff were feeling frazzled. There's so much to improve on here in...
