On the 14th of October 2025 I genuinely do not enjoy leaving negative reviews. However, after careful reflection, three GP appointments, and a newly established daily relationship with anxiety medication, I feel compelled to share my experience.
I visited this establishment at 2am in the innocent pursuit of a warm snack. Instead, I was served what I can only describe as a weaponised pastry.
The kebab pie was not simply spicy. it was a “reconsider your existence” level of heat. It did not taste spicy so much as it threatened me.
The following morning, I was suddenly and violently reminded of my mortality. Let’s just say my BOYFRIENDS bathroom (poor guy) bore witness to scenes no civilian plumbing system should ever be subjected to.
But the physical symptoms were merely Act One. Act Two involved trembling hands, shortness of breath, and a level of anxiety usually reserved for witnessing exam results or being chased by HMRC. I now take sertraline daily. I never expected pastry induced personality development, but here we are.
Additionally, the staff spoke to me as though I had turned up demanding a Michelin-star tasting menu at closing time. not simply attempting to purchase a bakery item in a bakery. The attitude was almost impressive. Truly consistent with the theme of the pie: hostile, unforgiving, slightly traumatic.
I do hope management takes this feedback seriously. Because while I believe in supporting local businesses, I also believe food should not require a medical support plan.
Thank you for your time. I will not be returning, unless it is to drop off a card for the staff saying:
“Wishing you warmth, kindness, and slightly less resentment toward paying customers.”
Regards, A recovering victim of late-night pastry...
Read moreHandy as open very early in morning. Hot food tends to be of a poor quality as it's been kept warm for a long time. It's fine if you get a fresh batch but often it's from the day before. The bacon and sausages are done in the microwave the kept hot and can often be dry and chewy. NOTE prices are more expencive if go in before 5am. There is no notice to tell you this but staff inforce it. I went in 4min before five and was charged extra. When I questioned the overcharge I was informed of the rule. Often do leftover sandwiches for £1 in the morning but pay attention to the date as the last one I bought was a day over the useby date which the shouldn't be selling and the bread was stale so went in the bin. The bakery section has been fine and good if you have a sweet tooth but nothing to write home about. The older staff (in the early hours when I use them) are more engrossed in having a chat with each other than any customer service. The younger staff are polite and have good customer skills
I only use them as they are the only ones open in the early hours. If there was a choice I would probably...
Read moreSold me stovies made with rotten potatoes. Smelt & tasted revolting. Refused to swap for macaroni n cheese, he tasted it and told me it was fine how it always tastes. (They ain’t remaking & still selling it) Told him I’d been coming here since the early 90s & can assure him they are not supposed to taste or smell like that. TBH it looks like they fired all the old staff & hired people who look like they have never ate stovies before let alone since the 90s. Wanted me to fill out a complaint form but I didn’t want to hang around after having to walk there with my order to complain in first place ended up paying for macaroni that was more edible but not great. Now I’m home so 1 star review. Don’t think I’ll be enjoying having a 24hr baker...
