My daughter, grandson and I visited for a quick lunch yesterday. It was my first visit and I wasn’t impressed with the service and atmosphere. As we first entered, my daughter and I struggled to carry my grandsons pram up the stairs but we made it, but as doing we unintentionally closed the door to the coffee shop entrance. There was a lady behind the counter, who scoffed at a young female assistant, and demanded that she went and Opened the door that they (meaning us) Had left closed I apologised for this, but the lady behind the counter did not even look up from what she was doing. I then made my way to the toilet, but without thinking, walked to the men’s the lady behind the counter, without looking up, shouted that the men’s I laughed to myself Apologised and went to the ladies entering the toilet. A strong smell of urine hit me and the hand dryer was broken. We ordered our food. My daughter chose the eggs Benedict which was lovely. I chose the cheese and chorizo baguette which was not as I expected. I was expecting diced chorizo but the baguette came with sliced packet chorizo which you buy cheaply from the supermarket. It was okay, but nothing special. My grandson sat happily in a highchair, or be it slightly dirty, which I had to wipe down with antibacterial wipes from my handbag As we arrived late, we did not realise the coffee shop closed at 3 pm. I was still eating my food which was served to me at 2:45. My daughter and I were engrossed in conversation when I looked up and realised it was very quiet. I looked at the clock and Realised it was 2:57 pm And the rude lady behind the counter cleaning around the area and scraping chairs across the floor, frowning at us. I advised my daughter that I think they close at 3 pm and we should leave so I left my lunch and the lady came straight over to our table and cleared the dishes away before I even had chance to put my coat on. The lady said goodbye, or thank you for coming, and I felt very unwelcome. We then struggled down the stairs again with the pram with no offer of holding the door open. I have been advised that the lady in question is the owner, and I feel her customer service leaves a lot to be desired The café itself was okay and sold beautiful gifts, but we did not get the chance to look. I will not be returning and would not recommend. I did want to give one star on my review, but it would not allow me!

Went for Christmas themed afternoon tea, was very disappointed with the whole experience and felt like I had wasted money, it was very regimental while dealing with the customs, once the food was out you didn't see another member of staff until it was time to clear up. There was no choice about the sandwiches nor was there a menu to see what you was getting. It was my mums birthday and I wanted to treat her, but she ate very little as she didn't like the choice of sandwiches. Cheese and tomato chutney and thurkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. The ambience was lovely just a shame about the over priced food. Won't be returning any time soon. Also is you struggle with stairs this isn't the place for you as there is on other option to get up to the cafe. What you see is what you got.

Beautiful clean coffee shop serving beautifully presented nice clean food. Staff really friendly. Food lovely. Really nice food and drinks menu with something for everyone. I've just had a beautiful fluffy jacket potato and side salad. Portion amazing. Presentation lovely. Salad really nice with variety of different items. Really enjoyed. Also nice little gift section with a selection of really nice gift ideas. Definitely recommend this place. And even better in my opinion now its moved to ground level as more accessible for everyone.

After placing the order it took around 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. 10 minutes later I was told they didn't have what I had asked for on the menu. I had an afternoon tea platter instead. The problem was, they then put me to the back of the queue again, so every other person that had gone in after us were now eating. 1 Hour later I spoke to the older lady and explained I've been waiting for more than one hour. 5 minutes later I explained to a waitress that if it's not ready could you please cancel the order, a few minutes later our food arrived. No apologie for the wait, no enjoy your meal. Nothing. 5 minutes into eating, my drink had not arrived that should have come with the meal. I had to go and explain that I've not had it, then I was told I don't get one, then they said oh we are wrong, you do get one, 5 minutes later my drink arrived. The food was below average, so at this point, after almost 90 minutes, we decided to leave. I don't like to give small businesses bad reviews but we felt unacknowledged, no one cared. All it would have taken was an apology and to show some understanding and some form of answer when asked why my food has been over one hour, and everyone else after us is eating. just a little something to show you cared. Surely that's common practice in and customer facing roll. One hour wait for a sandwich is unacceptable. I won't...

we had a spare 23 minutes until our bus was due so we decided to go into the brown bear coffee shop we don't have much money to us so we only ordered a sprite, tea and a slice of toast. it is key to point out that you pay once you order not after, our drinks arrived straight away however 10 minutes had pasted until we realised our bus was soon due and our toast was nowhere to be seen to give them the benefit of the doubt we then proceed to wait another 5 minutes we now have 8 minutes until our bus. I eventually go up to ask how much longer as we've been waiting 15 minutes for a slice of toast. I would like to point out the cafe had us and 2 other people in it. After having to ask where our food was the lady looked puzzled like she had completely forgotten about us in an empty cafe. the food then took an additional 5 minutes to arrive and by this point we have missed our bus home. I am not impressed with this cafe as a first...
