Café central — Restaurant in Arun

Whilst staying for the weekend in Bognor Regis decided to try out the Cafe Central in town. Checked out several cafes and this one looked one of the nicest one's. Always prefer to support the local ones over Costa or any other chain coffee shops. First impressions were good, no cooking smells at all, which is always a put off straight away. Menu was very varied. Hot meals, breakfast, baguettes, sandwiches, cakes, and lots more. All the cakes were all individually wrapped. Had a Bakewell tart and pot of tea. Plenty of free tables, lots of tables that go to the back of cafe. It's a big place too Friendly staff, very clean, also toilets on site but you need the code to get to them. I believe the owners need a reality check, especially considering the recent reviews.

The food was disappointing.

The Black Americano was served in a latte glass, and the Fruit Tea was presented in a similar glass of hot water that was not sufficiently hot, in my opinion, which prevented the tea from brewing properly.

Additionally, the atmosphere was lacking; it was silent with no background music at all. To access the restroom, you must request a door code from the waiter, who unfortunately provided the wrong code.

I'm surprised; I remember this place from over a year ago, and the standards were much higher! Is there a new owner or something? It's a shame, as the location has great potential, but it is...

Staff is very friendly, polite and professional. Quick service. But we wasn’t happy with the food. I ordered fish&chips - chips and peas were amazing, fish was all mushy inside, like mashed potato and didn’t smell and tasted like fish, very disappointed. For my 9 year old I ordered fish finger meal which came with 2 fish fingers and plenty of chips, thought that 2 fish fingers for £4.55 wasn’t fair price. Ordered banana split which was mainly cream… and we also had chocolate nut sundae which my daughter finished, that was the only thing we finished… left disappointed and hungry, felt rubbed… and I’m not a fussy eater!
