We visited for an evening meal on the Sunday after Christmas, we had travelled down from Sheffield to visit a friend and thought it would be nice to take him out for dinner, and we all love Indian food so Cardamom Bay came to mind as I remember when I used to live locally the food was good. We were not disappointed. We were the only table seated inside all evening but the takeaway side seemed busy. We were given a complimentary starter of meat samosas and a few extra poppadoms and an extra dip tray complimentary. For mains I had a chicken Jalfrezi, my partner had a Butter Chicken and our fired had the Chicken Madras. The pilau rice was cooked and seasoned wonderfully and the sag aloo side was some of the best I've ever had. The cheese naan was also really nice. They gave us complimentary coffee and complimentary desserts, they are very generous. The service was great and laid back, not pushy at all and we were able to leisurely eat while we had a good catch up with each other. The restaurant is alcohol free which didn't bother us and was actually quite refreshing. We had a chat with the waiter and leanred this is for religious reasons, which we respect and understand. They do add a service charge however it does state that this is optional. Overall it was a lovely evening, not the cheapest but happy to pay for quality food and it was...
Read moreCame here with my wife not to long ago just the 2 of us our drinks came quickly, 2 cokes that where expensive!!! Where flat, I at least expect a fresh drink if your going to charge the prices they do. Ordered our meals 1 madras 1 chicken tikka 2 pillau rice 1 chips. Got our food and considering for 2 of us and what costs us 30 at other Indian restraunts we go to around bognor these charged just over 65 with service charge including our drinks, we were expecting something great for these prices!! Food comes out and the chips are cold!!! The 2 currys and rice where ok!! Nothing special and to us not as good as other restraunts around bognor. Wouldn't come here again I would stick to the other local restraunts where you pay half the price for better tasting food and refreshing drinks and no service charge unless you would like to leave a tip which We always do because we have always been happy with the service, food and price. If you like very average Indian food and flat old drinks and would like to pay double the price of anywhere else then this is the...
Read moreWas turned away at 1:45 today as they closed at 2pm. On the web site it showed that they were supposed to open all day until 11pm. I showed this to the waiter who looked at it and replied web site must be out of date. I told him that we had drove from Portsmouth and paid parking just to come to the restaurant as I had been here a month ago and said I would bring my wife and child as the food was good. He didn’t care and shrugged his shoulders 🙈 I was really annoyed by the attitude and wondered how businesses can survive in the current climate, maybe lossing their drinks license was the first step👍 Anyway we walked down the road and found Punjab Cafe, when you walk in and find Indian family’s eating you know you are on to a good thing. We were welcomed in and the menu was explained as a little different to what we are normally use to. The food was fantastic and the waiters, owner and chefs were asking what we thought because they care.
Next time you are heading to Cardamom Bay maybe walk past by 150 yards and dine in a restaurant that they care and...
