Suga'kane — Restaurant in Arun

Heads up if you are going to suga’kane in bognor dont bother!!

Cant fault the bar staff at all but the angry woman who cooked our food and possibly owns the place, her attitude was digusting….

On your menu it says all dishes comes with rice and peas…. When ours came out it came with a hand full of nachos? (Which are mexican btw not Caribbean just so you know for when you edit your menu darlin’)

So anyone who knows me knows about how unconfident I am and i asked the bar staff ‘I might be wrong’ but on the menu here it says all meals come with rice and peas?

So she went and got the lady (if you can call her that) in charge.

Well she came out alright practically stood there and aggressivly told me for a 7 pound burger of course it doesnt, so i pointed at the menu which she made and said well it says it there and she replied with well thats my mistake and walked off.

She then decided to reappear and throw the rice and peas down onto the table and said share that between you…

Well i left you my food on the table as it has affected my confidence that much, hope you had fun making it.

This is an interesting one .. Its a great looking place for atmosphere and location .. We booked for a family of 5 for 6pm got their for near 6.30 and they already shut the kitchen in preference for the bar and music Ok thats my fault for being late ! Reading the comments most of the "issues" are around the food .. truth be told i think the food is just a bit of a bolt on .. the place is quite small and it seems to me that this really is just a nice interesting bar with live music which is fine but you do run the risk of not meeting expectations of quality and service if you provide food but youre not really serious about it ....i dont think this place can be considred a place to reley on for family dinning .. which is fine im sure if you like a good drink with good music its probly great ! As far as the " lady owner" yea you can see from her comments she can be a bit edgy :) but he ho thats probly want you get If you want to go to a little booze and music bar .. but realise any food available will be " second fiddle" :))) ...

We were intrigued by the little coffee caribbean so decided to have a look inside. A lovely, friendly and welcoming atmosphere was what we walked into. Was intrigued by the coktails, coffee and of course the Caribbean food. We ordered 3 lunchbox which had jerk chicken, curried goat, rice and peas and home made slaw along with . We took out to sit by the beach. The chef put these all in a bag for life for us along with a few little sweet things! The bar man was lovely and very friendly. It was nice to see workers who engaged with their customers and not just serve and then to be ignored. It was very clear the pride taken in the quality of the food. The curried goat was beautiful, with plenty of meat along with sauce. Jerk chicken was a perfect size and complemented the dish with a balance between heat and spice. The slaw..... Well that was deffo home made and just pulled the dish together. All in all would recommend and i will definitely be coming back on...
