2 couples (regular visitors) were very disappointed last night with the quality of the food. We placed our orders separately and our friends mixed up their order and had to amend it. They were told it was not too late to do this but then a girl appeared from the kitchen to say it had been cooked (which was very fast considering how long we had to wait for the rest of our order). Anyway when it came it was delivered to us by a very apologetic James W who was helping front of house but is the Kitchen Manager. I’ve got to say we don’t normally have issues visiting here - the purpose of writing the review is to bring to Weatherspoon’s Management’s attention that in your Employee, James W, you have an absolute gem. Three of us hold senior positions in Customer Service Management roles and we were absolutely blown away by how he approached the situation with us, showed true ownership and gave us a sincere and heart felt apology with a free round of drinks. The icing on the cake though was that when he finished his shift he came back to find us to say he wanted us to let him know via the bar staff the next time we visited so he could personally ensure we received a high standard of both food quality and service - wow - this review would have been a 1 had it not been for his involvement - he explained he was relatively new to Weatherspoons but he spoke with “real” passion about the Company and of his desire to develop and progress his career with them .... role model employees are hard to come by so sit up Weatherspoon’s Management team and recognise the talent this young man has to offer as you really wouldn’t want to lose him ... we had a bad experience but he’s now got us looking forward to returning at the weekend - well...
Read moreAs our usual place for a breakfast was closed for a holiday (Dink Doo Diner, Pier Road,Littlehampton ) we called in to The George, Littlehampton for breakfast at around 10.30 today. I ordered our breakfasts at the bar and got our tea there ,paid for it and gave our table number. The breakfast came quite quickly. After looking at the menu sheet again,I realised my vegetarian breakfast should have two eggs, not one , so I went back to the bar and asked the server,Chloe, if I could have the other egg as described on the menu and she quite quickly came with the other egg….but then I realised there were no mushrooms on our plates, the menu did say mushrooms were part of the meal….so I said to Chloe we were missing mushrooms from our meal…Oh she said we are out of mushrooms! We asked why we were not advised of this when ordering. There was not much of a reply to this ,just that there were no mushrooms! Really? Such a basic item not to have. After having to ask for an egg as part of the meal and then not to be told there were no mushrooms when ordering and paying for the meal is really not good customer service. Hopefully The Dinky Doo Diner will be open soon where we can have a very customer friendly breakfast. I give 3 stars for atmosphere as there were several people talking loudly in to their mobile phones, spoiling our good company atmosphere….who needs to hear private conversations? 🙁 not...
Read moreA very well presented pub with a grand display of seasonal flowers in full bloom (Sept2024) on front and side the inner court yard. Plenty of seats at rear available when we visited on a Thursday around 2pm. Tables for two along with some booths for 4 along a side wall. The inner courtyard - uncovered - had picnic old style bench seats. The ones where you have to lift your leg over to sit facing table. Alas not suitable for elderly humans like me with hip problems. I could not use! We ordered and paid for at the bar. Our battered cod chips and peas was delivered to our numbered table. It was the best batters cod I’ve had in a long time it was fish shaped (not your usual frozen fish shape) the batter was very crispy and had a great flavour - the chips were very hot and plentiful along with the green peas - first rate. No extra cost for ketchup and condiments. Which you fetched yourself from several stations around the room. Staff were very welcoming and cleared and wiped tables without delay. The overall decor was a bit drab and lighting at the rear near kitchens was poor. Main toilets up stairs (no lift) there is a disabled mixed use toilet on ground floor which is the only customer use level except for toilets. Gents upstairs was spacious with clean soap and electric drier in...
