I dont usually review restaurants but our meal was so diabolical I had to share. We were visiting Tenterden from London, other restaurants were fully booked so we came across Ozgur and so we sat down for a nice Turkish meal. To call your food athentic turkish brings shame to the cuisine. All food was frozen, meat was dry. The two men in our party had a mixed grill which consisted of a piece of each type of meat along with some stone cold rice. When the waiter eventually brough the food out, the waiter said, 'oh, you have an extra piece of meat...could you pass that piece of chicken to him as he doesnt have enough..!' I have never heard something so ridiculous in my life. I had to constantly ask for cutlery, new plates which they did not replace when they took the dirty ones away. We ordered a Tarama dip for starters along with frozen squid and 3 pieces of dry halloumi for 7 people. They did not bring bread with the dip, i had to ask for it so not sure how other people enjoy a dip without bread? Toilets were disgusting. When we went in to wash our hands before the meal I should have known and walked out then. Take some advice, visit a proper turkish restaurant in London to gain some advice and tips on customer service. I can only assume the good reviews on here is because customers are used to this shameful excuse of cusine. £135.00 (had the cheek to also add service charge for non existent service) down the drain AND we have to order a takeaway later that evening as we were all so hungry. Please please avoid this restaurant at all costs when visiting Tenterden. Given one star...
Read moreWe went for lunch. The place was half-empty but they made us wait standing up at the entrance. Too many tables for such a small place, everything crammed together. The waiters seemed too forceful, not the friendly Turkish types we've found at other Turkish restaurants. The food was very mediocre, nothing was well seasoned, even salt was missing from most dishes. The rice was par-boiled, not home cooked from scratch. The meat overcooked and dry. Not even close to Kervan Sofrasi in London. The best thing was the pitta bread, which came warm and had a great texture. The worst thing was discovering that the menu prices of the á-la-carte menu were way higher than those listed in the menu outside. Please update it - it's misleading at best and dishonest at worst. We didn't enjoy the atmosphere either. The music was too loud, making the waiters speak loudly and as a result customers too. A stressful experience and rather disappointing, so we won't be coming back. Thank goodness service was not included in the bill because we wouldn't...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic dining experience at Özgür Turkish Restaurant in Tenterden! The lamb casserole with rice was rich and flavorful, perfectly cooked with tender meat and a delicious sauce. The fried squid - Kalamar Tava and whitebait were crispy, fresh, and seasoned beautifully. But the highlight had to be the freshly made pitta bread — warm, fluffy, and simply the best we’ve ever tasted.
For dessert, we enjoyed traditional Turkish coffee paired with baklava — both were divine and a perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant’s interior is stunning, with an authentic and cozy Turkish vibe that adds to the whole experience. The service was attentive and friendly, thank you Bodan for making us feel so welcomed 🤗
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a genuine Turkish feast in a beautiful setting! We can’t wait...
