RUDE and RACIST manager We just had the most disappointing experience dealing with the rudest and manager one can come across in any business!!! We bought take away food from this place on our last evening in Sudbury, but after a couple of mouthfuls, I found a long hair in my biriyani, so we phoned the restaurant to let them know. The manager asked me if I wanted him to make me another one, but I said I preferred to have a refund and that I was going to take the good back and show him the hair, he then asked me to take the food back at lunchtime tomorrow because he wouldn't be able to deal with it this evening, but I explained that we were leaving in the morning. To my biggest surprise he got aggressive and said that, he would carry out a DNA test on the hair because that had never happened in 15 years of business and that they had no blond female in the kitchen; to that I said that things like that can happen, but he said, "No, not here! Where are you from?" I found that question completely irrelevant to the matter and said that I wasn't blonde (hair found was of golden ish colour that could be henna-dyed grey hair) if he was trying to say that the hair could be mine, but instead of apologising to me, he asked how long we've been in England and accused me of putting the hair in the food myself saying, "people like you come to England to do things like that" (my partner has a foreign accent). We ended the call and drove back to the restaurant where we were met by the manager who came out and asked how he could help us...we ignored his attempt to stop us from going in. Once inside, we complained about his attitude but he first denied it was him who spoke to us on the phone. The 3 other members of staff present were anxious to make our presence brief in a very busy restaurant to avoid embarrassment, but as they realised that were not going to accept their unprofessional way of dealing with the matter, they offered a quick apology, made a refund before telling us, "YOU CAN LEAVE NOW!" I still can't believe that this actually...
Read moreWow.... What more can I say, this place was awesome from the moment we stepped in until the moment we left.. We arrived as a slightly merry group of 4 guys all aged between 38 and 54. From entering we were greeted with a smile and asked what we'd like to drink whilst they cleared, cleaned and set us up a table. The restaurant was full of families, couples and several various large groups and the staff were all running around tending to each table while still smiling and laughing. Once seated we had our entrees whilst we perused the menu. There was no pressure for us to order as we sat, deliberated and ordered more drinks. Once ordered we continued enjoying our sometimes loud conversation and merrily drinking. Not once were we made to feel unwanted or out of place and were treated the same as every other table. The food arrived piping hot and was absolutely sublime. Not one complsint about any dish, it was all cooked to perfection and all the tableware was immaculate, fresh, white and clean. The staff continued to check on us while we ate, joining in our merry chats and laughing with our jokes. After we'd finished we stayed for several more drinks and felt no pressure to leave. The bill finally arrived and it was far less than we expected. It cost more than a takeaway but well under compared to the standard of food and service we received. A most enjoyable evening in a pleasant setting with fantastic food, service and hospitality.. We will definitely return again....
Read moreFirst time to the Ballingdon Valley Indian restaurant and was not disappointed. A wet and windy night we were pleased to park in their parking area and go in through the garden to the restaurant. People were waiting to collect takeaways and after checking in, hand sanitizing and giving details for track & trace we were shown through to our table. Very busy although plenty of space between diners. A good hum conversation and an awareness of music underpinning the chatter. Went with two halves of Kingfisher before ordering pappadoms. The menu does have a huge and varied selection of dishes. Something for everyone. We had King Prawn Puree and Tandoori Chicken starter. Mains were King Prawn Shashla and Special Chicken Sim with a portion of pilau rice and a chappati. The portions are really generous and presented beautifully at the table. Wine list choice was a Viongnier which paired very nicely with the food. No room for dessert and some left over to take home. The staff are excellent and the restaurant is well presented and you can tell very well run. The meals other diners were having looked equally as good as ours. No hesitation in recommending The Ballingdon Valley and we will definitely be...
