Grover & Allen - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Babergh

Unfortunately it's a very solid one star.. because nothing lower is available. The pub itself is nice however that's where the good points stop. There's a long bar, but don't try standing at it as you'll be ignored! The trick is to stand in the middle and awkwardly queue back through the multitude of tables.. occupied by customers. After being rudely told by a member of staff I'd need to move further down the bar to be served I was still ignored until the staff member working that area decided it was my turn. Now, having already spent 5 minutes queuing and being far ahead of those who'd turned up and begun meandering their way through the tables I was still ignored! An absolute joke of a pub! The prices are cheap but most of the drinks are lower end. I'd rather spend the extra and head to a better pub brand.. which fortunately on this occasion I did just that.. Lesson learned, ignore the cheap watered down drink prices and head somewhere a little...

Please don't consider this as a complaint, more of a constructive criticism. There was no interaction with the waitress staff, my breakfast was just placed in front of me, she just walked off. The breakfast was cold and was not that appealing to eat, although I did eat it,only because I was hungry and I didn't want the food to be wasted. There is enough wastage of food in this country without me adding to it. Having worked in the hospitality industry myself, I get it, trying to be happy smiley all day can be difficult but a little interaction would have helped " enjoy your breakfast sir" or similar would have gone a long way. Why didn't I complain when I was there? The simple reason, I didn't want the confrontation and I don't think anyone would care enough to rectify the complaint, at least that was the impression I got.

If you don't know what the faults are you can't start rectifying...

Compared to the other wetherspoons we've been to we had a Small amount of food on the plate for the price and low quality. Relatively fast service 👍 using the app we again ordered desert, waiter came up and said items were not available but stated otherwise via app. Told by the waiter we could choose any other dessert regardless of price so we did and was confirmed with the kitchen . A few minutes later the manager came up and said we had to pay extra but we replied with what I said above Then they blamed it on the waiter and stated they were in training (they had confirmed with the kitchen prior so it was not their fault). Manager came over as quite rude and wouldn't let off on letting us have slightly more expensive dessert. Couldve been prevented if app was actually up to date with quantity. Normally any other place would say choose a different desert if what you expected and ordered is...
