Twenteaone — Restaurant in Babergh

Walked past this shop and thought it looked lovely so wanted to get a coffee. I ordered a Flat White to take away. I thought, nice and simple. . . I waited quite a while for my coffee. Longer than I expected as they weren’t overly busy. I received my coffee, which I was pretty sure wasn’t going to be what I ordered or taste very nice as when I was watching the lady make it, she brewed the coffee and left it in the cup for around 4-5 minutes whilst she was making other orders. She then used semi skimmed milk to slightly froth the milk and poured the coffee that was siting there for an age into a cup. She then poured the milk on top. When I tried to drink my coffee it was boiling hot! It burnt my tongue. Coffees should not be make this hot. The coffee then didn’t taste like coffee. It tasted like a bitter milkshake. I returned the coffee and just asked for a refund. I was asked did I want it on card or cash. I said whatever is easiest as I just wasn’t in the mood for any more waiting around. I then got cash, which didn’t even cover the cost of the coffee. I just can’t believe how poor this place was. I have read the reviews and maybe just think it was just me. Nothing wrong with the food whatsoever, but there are some really inappropriate topics discussed by staff that are very alienating to customers, and sometimes put customers in a really awkward position when it's discussed directly with them. No one wants to make a scene in that scenario but equally no one deserves to feel less valuable than other people. :( I really don't feel welcome here at all even if most the staff are absolutely lovely. Just makes you feel like everyone thinks like that, which is super disheartening when you're anxious and just want a nice lunch. This is lovely and delightful little tea room/cafe. The food is delicious, the customer service is great (can not fault it) and the atmosphere is cosy and friendly. I went vegan last year and I could not see any options on the menu but when I asked if I could have the vegetarian breakfast as vegan, they were so hospitable and produced the most delicious vegan fried breakfast for me. The chief even came out to check it was ok and asked what diary free milk and butter replacements I think are best.
