Scutchers — Restaurant in Babergh

I really enjoyed eating at this marvellous restaurant. This was fine dining, with plenty of choice, run by the owners without any of the snobbishness one sees sometimes in such places. The menu gave plenty of options. I also asked about vegetarian options and was given a range of choices that could be made to order. The staff were excellent. I did not feel rushed. There was a good wine list and, marvellously, carafes were available for the most popular wines (I was eating alone this time). It is not open every day, so you must check beforehand. I took my family here a few nights ago (there were 10 of us), I thought the food was excellent, my meal was amazing (turbot & crab), the venue is really lovely and it had a nice cosy, warm atmosphere. They were very good at catering to our needs i.e., we had two gluten free and then also no dairy, and I also requested a healthy alternative, they were most welcoming and willing to cater for the different requests and the food was cooked to perfection. My husband and I visited Scutchers recently. We were very much looking forward to a relaxed meal without our children. The service was absolutely brilliant, the atmosphere was perfect. The food was ok, the vegetables looked very bland, simply boiled, and the presentation didnt give us the wow factor we were hoping for considering the price. We probably won't visit again simply because we feel it is over priced for what you get. I think it has huge potential and if they just went that extra mile to showcase their food a bit better, it would be fantastic.
