We went for afternoon tea, the place is nice and cosy and very friendly staff. We were bought a plate sandwiches, and lady left them without telling us what we had. I thought i took a chicken but discovered it was tuna! ( hate tuna!) lOur selection consisted, cheese & ham, brie & cranberry, tunna & tomatoe all on white bread, no brown bread sandwiches were on offer. My daughter does not eat brie or tuna so all she had was ham/cheese, all I had was the brie. Cakes: Again were left on our table without any explaining! 2 slices choclate cake which was lovely, 2 pices looked like maderia cake , turned out to be ginger pieces in there, was OK. 1 small piece of broken up victoria sponge which to be fair was lovely, but one piece to share! 2 x fruit scones which were nice served with cream and jam. As we came for an afternoon tea, i enjoyed my cuppa, daughter had a very weak coffee as she does not drink tea, which they charged for!. I have been to many afternoon teas and never had to pay for coffee if someone does not like tea! I can honestly say, really was not a thrilling experience. I gave this place a 2nd chance as the first time popped in for tea and cake, I sent back the cake as it was dry. I am sorry to say I won't be a...
Read moreI cannot recommend Helen and the team at Ivy and Bond enough. We had been here a few times for afternoon tea/lunch and the atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming - a real family environment upheld by all. When I heard that they were going to do sweets and ice cream as well I enquired about sweets for our wedding day. Helen the owner booked in a slot with us to tailor it and make it bespoke and just really get to know us and what it was we wanted for our special day. She made a million notes and took all of our ideas and sprinkled in her own checking with us every step of the way to make sure it was perfect. The sweets she produced for us were above and beyond anything we could have expected or put together ourselves. Her attention to detail and efforts to make it just what we wanted could not be faulted. The sweets were an absolute hit - everyone loved them! If you are looking for someone to do sweets for your wedding...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Ivy & Bond, (in an attempt to try and like it from the first awful visit, with bad service and food) but will definitely be my last! A very limited number of cakes on display, which look dried up and unappetizing. I had a fruit scone which was well past it's freshness, and had been microwaved to death. So thin I could barely cut it in half, it was dry and chewy (definite sign of a blast in the micro, definitely not hot from the oven as I was told), and dried up around the edges. Plus full of baking soda. The worst scone I can ever remember trying to eat. Definitely not worth £7 including luke warm tea. It's a nice cafe inside and staff very friendly, but think they need a more professional approach to baking. As this is their second failure for me, I will not be returning. There are so many more lovely Tea Rooms in Long Melford to enjoy. Check out Elvitas scones. The best in...
