The Barmouth Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Barmouth

Arrived to the Barmouth bar and grill today it was fully booked but the guy at the door let us take a table that didn’t show up we ordered our food and was told food was fresh but wasn’t given a time how long food would be. We waited 45 mins for our food to come which we didn’t Moan about but with one food we asked if they could keep in the back because food taking so long we had to move our car cause the ticket run out one of the waitress took it back and the manger brought it back saying kitchen was closed and had to leave it on the table which was fine. Waiting 45 mins for food which was cold was disappointing especially for my pregnant friend who had the bacon and mushroom carbonara and asked the waitress if it can be taken back due to it being cold. When waiting to pay the bill we politely told the guy the food was cold after waiting for theirs ‘ freshly made food’ and he was so rude and defensive everything which was said he denied and said we was in the wrong and that he stuck his fingers in the pasta to see if it was cold and it was warm he then accused my pregnant friend of lying and whilst the owner was speaking to us about the issue due to the fact the manger was ignorant and wouldn’t give his name, he went behind the bar screaming at us calling us liars considering there were 5 of us on the table , and would also talk about it to other customers whilst pointing towards the table. The manger moaned about how he was so busy that food came late but was sat across the table from us with a family having a lovely time laughing and joking for a good 20 mins ? as customers experiencing this sort of behaviour from a manger is absolutely disgusting and so appalling and should not be acceptable, as a 21 year old working in the food industry since I was 16 would never ever treat a customer the way this ‘ manager’ did. I placed a complaint with the owner about the manager doubt anything was done about it, I am genuinely disgusted and disappointed.

Don't deserve a star ... the pub is lovely and we were looking forward to a nice meal a few drinks and after looking at the online menu we were sure this was the place .... what a huge mistake. We went in to be greeted at the bar by a miserable waitress and could cut the tension with a knife. After being shown to the table the waitress sat back in the corner where she is sat with I'm assuming other staff (they also have been serving,if you can call it that ) where they are just drinking vapeing and getting clearly annoyed when someone approaches the bar. We were sat opposite them and they were swearing which is extremely unprofessional. I get it's out of season at the moment but wow there is really no excuse! We asked to move and they just left us to re-seat ourselves. Apparently now when you make a reservation service isn't included. We sat there watching them as they got up to serve from their personal lives and not once did they wash there hands! The food was mediocre at best and not even piping hot as you would expect from an empty pub. There wasn't 1 check back so we had to go to the bar again to tell them the food wasn't edible. My partner had to have his food replaced where as I made due as I felt so uncomfortable with the lack of professionalism. I now understand why other restaurants were fully booked and this one was so empty. I f I were there manager I'd seriously be reconsidering some roles. The attitude of the staff here is so damaging to the brand and God help the business owner. Non of their hair is tied back and only 1 had uniform on. Let's hope EHO isn't doing a visit anytime soon or the police for that matter as a lad looking no older than 16 is also helping serve drinks. Revisited March 2022 This time we had mother's day Sunday lunch. Things were not quite right this time. Service was not on point. Constantly having to follow up where things were. Definitely having problems today. Food tastes good but was cold and we had waited 1hr for food and really just wanted to get on with our day. Sides of veg were served 10mins before main dishes came so we're cold by the time food came. People were getting served before us despite us ordering way before others. The prawn starter was very good and mushroom starter was very good. I think it was just an off day today. As its not normally like this. I spoke to Mark at the bar and he said sorry and they were having kitchen difficulties today.

Revisited February 2022 Still the best filet steak I've ever had. And served identical to the visit 9 months prior. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would like to see a kids steak added to the menu. We had fish and chips this time too. My brother is hard to impress with food but he was impressed with his fish and chips.
