Adrian the "manager" served me at the drive-through window this morning. What a totally unpleasant experience. After waiting several minutes for my drive-through coffee, I received a lecture about passing him a used Starbucks cup. A coffee I had purchased earlier in the day was still in my car drinks holder, I asked Adrian "the manager" through the window politely, if he wouldn't mind putting it in the bin for me, so, he took the cup from my hand. No problem.
After several minutes waiting for my coffee, he returned and proceeded to advise me that passing rubbish (a Starbucks coffee cup purchased earlier in the morning from the Birdwell franchise) was not acceptable and that he would now have to wash and disinfect his hands having taken the cup, and for future, I should know this and not ask again to dispose of my cup. He said, you wouldn't give the bus driver your ticket back when you'd done with it, would you!? FYI Adrian, something like this would have worked fine, when I initially asked: "no, sorry, I can't put that in the bin for you, it's not hygienic for us".
Being an avid customer at various Starbucks' - and on first name terms with the staff at Stairfoot where Customer Service is high on their agenda, I was totally dumbfounded by his rude, abrasive manner,
Asking for a coffee cup that was in my drinks holder (Starbucks coffee cup) to be disposed of, to make room for my freshly purchased coffee - is totally unacceptable, as he pointed out.
If this Manager is the measure of the customer service, I dread to think the message that is conveyed and projected to his peers.
Maybe Adrian - the manager, just a tip, have little trip down to the Stairfoot Starbucks, they are pleasant and go above and beyond to ensure your visit is a good one. For the sake of just putting the cup in the bin!?!?!?
Be kind, always.
I will not visit this particular Starbucks again. ever.
I will also escalate...
Read moreI am not sure if the manager has changed now, but I have found this to be an excellent Starbucks and no slow service at all. I can't get the 1 star reviews.
No fuss helpfully served . Very good. Really smart bright place and it seems to be appreciated by quite a few too the same. At the Peel Retail centre over the other side of the park from M & S , Argos, and all down in the valley there. Nice food and drinks in the Starbucks brand and way. Just fine. Not connoisseur coffee but that's not what Starbucks is about. And good team work going on led by a very respectful good youngish man. Very proper and battling labouring on quietly and well. It also opens at 6.30 a m and gives the early coffee option after a nice stroll to get the day going well. Btw I question a cafe manager commenting on another competitor(?), by review, with best of respect. And I have factually absolutely not found the same! She maybe came on a bad day but ...Take care in hasty reviews of negativity. We all need encouragement!? Very efficient getting on and polite helpful. And have had an excellent chat with the young-ish manager man too. Thanking him. Very helpful and positive caring type he seems and seeking to keep good order and an encouraged well-working team, in maybe very tough days at the present while for minds and concerns of many of us. Persevering well needed of course And I hope the young staff team do here. I have visited 4 or 5 times on a two week stay in Barnsley. Excellent! Many thanks. There are a few outside tables too btw and it's a lovely modern smart bright inside decor. Two individual toilets on ground floor no stairs...
Read moreOn leaving noticed a 5 star food hygiene rating. Wow from when. Was not impressed do to state of serving counter pictured, not wiped or cleared before I received order. Uncleared tables (partly fault of lazy customers) sugar, cutlery area piled with used crockery, pictured. Sat in comfy seats, noticed damage to the wall which needs filling and painting. Been once before as plus point is the location is next to other shops and free car park. Last time visiting the air con was freezing and uncomfortable. Peach tea was too sweet. Watched staff make it. No tea bags seen. Came from 2 cartons and already made up tea. Staff put way too much of something sweet in! Not going in again, albeit convenient! Additionally my partner gave me a £10 note to pay with. Girl serving saw it and said we don't take cash! I paid with card it was £13 anyway. People should have the choice to pay with cash in a massive chain store! It is not inclusive otherwise....
