I asked for an iced salted caramel latte originally the employee on the till politely explained to me the salted caramel was a thick syrup and so they could not offer it iced because the syrup would not dissolve and rather stay as a thick layer at the bottom of the cup. I asked of it was possible to put the shots in before the milk and swirl it to dissolve the caramel with the heat he went on to explain he wasn't able to do this. The partner behind named Antonia told him its fine I'll do it. Which I thought was very nice. She them went on to make the drink I noticed she was not putting the shots in before the cold milk as I'd clearly asked for as I now knew the syrup would not dissolve otherwise. When I asked if she could do the shots first she then simply said "no, brand standards". I explained that the other employee said it wouldn't dissolve that way. She went on to make the drink to "brand standard" I asked if I could just have the normal caramel if this is the case. She refused and instead told me "you can mix it. "Muttering something about having "ten years of training."
When I requested her name she merely pointed at her name badge I explained I don't have a pen and had to request her to write her name down for me.
Having worked for coffee shops for the last 15 years, 5 of thoes years being in costa itself I understand it can be hard to stay happy all the time however I do not feel rudeness and blatant dismissal of a customers request is in anyway acceptable. I also do not feel a customer should be belittled for making a simple request when it comes to there own beverage preferences. I would like to share that customers whom come into my place of work in the same town centre often tell us how rude the staff in your store are and go onto explain this is why they do not use costa in basildon. Personally until now I had never expierancrd this myself until yesterday.
I left the store angry and frustrated at the rudeness of one partner thinking what I would do if this had happened on my shift and how embarrassed I would be if my staff had spoken to a customer in this way.
Clearly ten years of training is not enough to teach this employee about...
Read moreI was there yesterday morning, but it was a terrible experience from one lady that was cleaning the table where you get the sugar etc at that time (between 8.40am - 9.20am) her attitude is not what anyone wants to experience in morning especially in a coffee shop, even the man that was serving/working with her went close door telling her to stop but I heard her screaming from inside for absolutely no reason, her anger was why do i make my coffee next to her. She got so angry and left even didn’t replace the bin. The sad part was she did not say anything to me but I was hearing her voice from inside very loud shortly the man came there taking the rubbish without excusing himself and I moved back and said sorry his response was SHE hasn’t finish cleaning. Though they’re not very friendly there overall which I believe it’s for certain race only based on my personal experience but today...
Read moreGood for basic coffee, but will not listen or care if you want an alternative. I asked for an alternative milk as I cannot have normal, the past 4 times. The last time, they charged me for it and made it with normal. Only noticed after I took a sip and was violently sick a few minutes after. When I waited to see if I could get a remake or refund, they stood and giggled and laughed without turning to even look. Time before that, the same happened but I was able to query it, I was told they were out so they made it with whole milk. I asked if there was any alternative to milk and they said yes. When I asked why they did not use it, I got a shrug. No offer for a remake either. Go to any other Costa, just not this one. You get trained on allergy information for a reason. Please advise staff on how to...
