Matteus caribbean cuisine LTD — Restaurant in Basildon

When you put as much love, time and energy into something your are guranteed a good result, and this food is nothing short of outstanding. My partners Carribean family could not belive just how good this place was! We even travelled from Leigh on sea to collect. If you are going to eat here then make sure to grab a drink and just enjoy talking to Matteus before you eat, the guy is a legend. This place is a gem and if you are reading this review, then take our word when we say ORDER IT!

Also to note, we have two celiacs in the family, Matteus went of of his way to make us comfortable and reassured us that we had nothing to worry about. Eating in new places can sometimes be tricky for us as we don’t know how food will affect us. We both felt great after and that just shows how fresh and authentic this food is!

Mateus gets the big big thumbs up from me. Wherever you are in the UK, come and give Mateus a try, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

I had my first meal here 2 weeks ago - oxtail with rice and peas, and a lamb pattie, with Mateus homemade mango juice

Well I could honestly say that bigs dose the best Caribbean food within Essex Basildon area. I can also say big rating for Mr Bigz as iv been down to turtle Bay and people rate that, but I think to be honest, the standards are not great at all. The food was watery you could taste the herbs and spices in the food like as if you was eating the powder I would never ever go to Turtlebay again and I would never rate them. Mr Bigz is the one for his lovely Caribbean curry goat. I’ve also tried the stewed chicken as well as jerk, chicken and other items if he was running a restaurant that we could go to in the evenings, we would Defo be there thank you, Mr Bigz for bringing this to our town.
