Nestled in the heart of the city, Afriz offers a delightful culinary journey through African cuisine, and my recent visit confirmed its reputation as a hidden gem. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Jollof Rice paired with Mutton Stew, a combination that showcased the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The Jollof Rice was a vibrant masterpiece, with each grain perfectly cooked and infused with a rich blend of tomatoes, peppers, and spices. The balance of flavors was impeccable, offering a delightful mix of heat and sweetness that kept every bite interesting. Complementing this was the Mutton Stew, which was tender and succulent. The mutton was cooked to perfection, absorbing the robust, savory sauce that boasted layers of aromatic spices and a hint of smokiness. Beyond the food, Afriz excels in creating a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The decor is a tasteful blend of modern and traditional African elements, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that makes it perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Afriz stands out not just for its delicious food but for the entire dining experience. If you're looking to savor the authentic taste of Jollof Rice and Mutton Stew in a pleasant setting, Afriz is the place to be. Highly recommended!

A casual restaurant for friends and family. We ordered: gizzado, mix grill suya, garlic bread, beans and plantain. All dishes were delicious, the gizzard was a bit sweeter than I thought but not in a bad way. The chicken suya tasted nicer than the beef - for the salad I think it would be nicer if the lettuce wasn’t chopped so the meat could be wrapped with the lettuce. Garlic bread was slightly disgusting as it didn’t have a strong garlic profile, it felt more like toast with butter only. Drinks- guava, strawberry and mango smoothie was fresh. The milo smoothies was a bit too sweet and heavy for my taste. The restaurants decor is very nice and feels lively. Ama, Kiara and Zara were the staff we interacted with and everyone was friendly. Kiara was our server and the one we interacted with the most, she was very friendly and made the dining experience more pleasant. The menu on the website and in the one in the restaurant is a bit different, I think both menus need to be updated to the most recent one. Would come back again and try other dishes.

My girlfriend and I have wanted to try Nigerian food for so long, and decided to pop in to have a snack when in Festival Place! It was really empty in there but the staff were really friendly and helpful. There are a good number of tables despite being quite small and tucked away. We shared a medium portion of jollof rice with the fried plantains which was incredible! We're both not the best with spice, though, so if you're the same then definitely be prepared for a bit of a kick (even though it's labelled as mild on the menu! tells you all you need to know about my spice tolerance). Even then, it was delicious and I'm definitely going to try making it at home! Loved the compostable bowls and cutlery. There seemed to be plenty of vegan and veggie options so we'll definitely be returning to try those, too - especially the famed puff puffs!

What a place. We came here for an anniversary meal - we love trying new food and chose this place based on the reviews.

Firstly, the location is great, a little off the main Basingstoke thoroughfare close to car parks.

The restaurant is small but they haven't crammed it full of tables. It's really nicely laid out, lovely music and good atmosphere.

Staff were very attentive, honest and friendly. We were given a window table with a rose on it for the anniversary. A lovely touch.

We ordered the chicken stew, the mixed stew (fish, mutton and mushroom) with jollof rice, a side of chicken wings and a side of lamb chops.

It didn't take long to arrive and was bursting with flavour. The mutton was a highlight, tasty, with a wonderful texture and very tender.

We had some of the local Nigerian beers - Trophy and Star with Trophy being my favourite and the missus preferring the Star. Both were big bottles, chilled and delicious.

Finally we finished with the puff-Puffs, which are essentially doughnuts with sauce and topping. They were outstanding. I ate 5.

Overall, and for the price, I couldn't recommend it more. What an incredible place to eat. I was gutted to learn it had been here for over two years and I'd only just noticed it.

Go there. Enjoy the...

This is the second time I will have this terrible experience with Afrizi and their delivery. The first time I ordered food to the hospital and it was dropped, yes I meant dropped in a reception area, the delivery person didn’t even care that it is hospital environment and I did drop a complaint about this and nothing was done by either Afrizi or the delivery company. Today I ordered food worth £35 from Afrizi et Justeat and the order delivered was not complete and it took forever for the food to be delivered and when I called Afrizi they first told me it wasn’t their fault the food was delivered late, I bet it was my fault and about the incomplete order, the guy couldn’t be bothered he told me what he could do was to add it to my next order as if he was doing me a favour, customer service is poor, food quality is terrible, packaging is a sore sight. TBH, when I heard Nigeria restaurant is opening in Basingstoke I was excited, but Afrizi has done nothing but disappoint me every time, I wish they could go back to their drawing board and come back with something better rather than this embarrassment to...
