I’ve had chi’s street food 3 times and let me just say that when they opened, the food was excellent and customer service was awesome. I’ve recently decided to try the place out again and even though the food was still good the customer service is terrible. I went there with my sister and our order was we messed up . My sister told the waiter and they denied their mistake but 5 minutes later, they realised that they did mess up. We got all our food except the Korean hot dogs. We were waiting for about 15-25 minutes for them ( after recovering our the 1st half of our order- ordered everything at same time). And after asking the waiter about our Korean hot dogs, we realised they were forgotten and had to wait another 10 minutes.
A few days ago we returned and got amazing food again but customer service was still not that good, people were still nice though. We got our drinks mixed up and we saw other customers have their food mixed up as well.
EDIT: Visited the restaurant again recently, customer service wayyy better. Staff nice and food still good quality. Well done for improvements Image shown is the Korean fried chicken burger ( For £13 I think) Fries are also amazing, would...
Read moreWe ate here last night as part of the Eat Out 2 Help Out scheme and as it was new to Basingstoke we thought we’d give it a try. We booked over the phone 2 days earlier & then had to move our arrival time slightly on the day & we found their customer service very friendly & efficient (hence 3 stars). The menu is extensive although we were disappointed to find they’d removed the rendang already but I suspect that has something to do with the overall authenticity of the dishes provided. The food is very much chain restaurant quality adapted to local taste which is such a shame as so many people travel now & want the tastes they’ve experienced from far away destinations (even more so now travel is restricted). I had the chilli & coconut soup with prawns (6 in total) which was very 1 dimensional with just lots of pepper and no depth of flavour and sadly gave me a bad tummy for the rest of the night. I know it can be difficult at this time to source the diversity of ingredients but London is only an hour away & the quality & flavour of dishes there far surpass what...
Read moreThe Chi restaurant was one of my favourite restaurants in Basingstoke, the big bowl of pho noodle soup on the old menu was my favourite (which cost around £9 per bowl)I found all the food on the old menu before was very reasonable price. However, recently they have a new menu which there are no more noodle soup on it but on the ‘Chef Special’ board which written Beef Pho Soup for £10 (which I am happy to pay for it). When I put the order for takeaway (the Beef Pho Soup), the staff tried to charge me for £14. Then I said I didn’t expect to pay for this price, the staff explained that they charge the soup for £10 + noodles for £4 so the total is £14. I am sure the staff in the restaurant has no idea of ‘pho’ is actually mean ‘noodles’ in Vietnamese. I don’t think this is fair to pay extra for the noodles! I am very disappointed with the new menu, definitely not...
