I have visited alchemy for the first time recently. The cocktails were great and had several menus. I asked if I was able to go off menu and order a personal favourite drink of mine as I realised they had all the ingredients for it. I was told no and that they are not allowed to go off menu which I found strange, as I have not been told this in a cocktail bar yet. Then when I was enjoying a conversation with one of the bartenders, who to add were the highlight in terms of charm and personality. Im presuming female manager told him to go back to work. The bar was half empty and every other table was served, I was speaking to him about his personal favourite cocktails. I don't believe talking to customers about anything, particularly cocktails is not working, that's what creating a ambience is. Anyway, I will come back as the cocktails themselves were great. But hopefully there is more freedom given to the staff to actually serve and interact with customers.

A beautiful little place that Basingstoke has been begging for! Almost feels like a hidden gem with a speakeasy vibe with frosted windows at the top of town. Finally somewhere to go with incredible cocktails, incredible service, and care taken over every drink. The bar is beautifully finished that feels as warm and homely as the service and drinks. Highly recommend the Espresso Martini - she's got some great head! We spent hours tucked away in here, vibing to the banging playlist and hidden from the terrors happening across the other venues at top of town.

Finally somewhere in Basingstoke that feels grown up with a touch of class. Went there late afternoon/early evening for a drink before dinner. It's not huge, maybe half a dozen tables. Well decorated with a concise drinks menu. There were 3 white wines by the glass and between us we tried them all. It's not often, everything is a good choice. As we were leaving there were reservations going on the tables, which is rare to be able to do for drinks now. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. Now it's here I hope it stays and we can support it.
