Big Chef Cafe — Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

I have been going to this cafe every weekend since it opened. There was originally one really friendly staff member they have seemed to disappear not working anymore but was always greeted with a smile and fantastic service..... that's also changed. However i turned up at 2:10pm for a brunch with the family only 4 of us but i got stopped at the door. A staff member said have you come here for drink? obviously i said no food and drink.....he said that the kitchen is now closed..... obviously i can see them still serving tables......i did say online it says you close at 4pm he laughed at me and said don't listen to that we close a 3pm. I said that's fine we still have 50 minutes he again laughed and said no we are closed......i didn't stay to argue.....i turned away and found another cafe in town. I did enjoy the food at big chef Basingstoke but just over that im stubborn and ill not go back over that. Just sharing...

Been here 3 times 1st time great , 2nd time had to leave as a man was hogging a table for way too long and the staff couldn’t flip the table even giving him a free muffin to go for his son but he stayed defo to be awkward . We had our dog whom became impatient. 3rd time we ordered full meals for 3 and drinks . Drinks came but no food waited for 40 mins and chased it . They were very polite but our food ticket had got lost . All a bit of a shame but handled very well new drinks and then the food came out very quickly and was really nice . I like the beans separate in a pot I feel they kept their heat please keep doing it . You can always pour them out if you want too. Will defo return as the food is great and well cooked and always hot just watch if you’ve ordered food you should get cutlery immediately after ordering . If not check A- and...

Greeted in a friendly manner as soon as we entered. Menu nicely laid out and all what you would expect from a cafe serving this type of food. The fixtures and fittings are industrial and modern looking and the facilities were clean and tidy. The food was really good quality, almost nothing to moan about apart from the beans! Why do people insist on serving baked beans in tiny thimble types pots! I mentioned it to the staff, hopefully they take it on board. These guys were super friendly though, and the food is truly amazing. Pricing wise was actually reasonable for the size of the plate, ignoring baked beans pot of course.
