Overwhelmed?? There were not many customers there - it was 5pm on a week day. God knows how awful the service actually is when you're busy. Does the attitude of your staff only become acceptable when the pub is fully empty then? Poor response from a very poor pub.

The service in the pub was appalling, which is actually being generous. We booked a table for my birthday - early as we were with a 6 year old so were there soon after 5pm. We had to queue at the bar to get seated as there was no one greeting people at the door as had been our previous experience. We ordered the food, which wasn't cheap as the two main meals were from the steak menu. The sirloin arrived without the onion rings. We wanted to call the waitress back to ask about them but she had disappeared as soon as she had arrived, with a face of death as she had delivered our food. We had to get up from our seats, queue at the bar behind all the people waiting to be served for drinks to ask. When we got to the front of the queue they said they would need to talk to the kitchen. We went back to our food and continued before the onion rings arrived after the meals were finished (it took at least 10 minutes). There was no apology or anything, not even a sorry, the waitress just threw a plate with them at the table, saying nothing. My wife then went back to the bar to queue and ask why the attitude had been so bad and the bar person said they'd speak to her. No apology, no-one came to our table, there was no-one to attend to us. In fact we left the pub without even seeing a member of staff in the restaurant with our empty plates still on the table. We didn't rush out either as our son was playing on the climbing frame outside after eating whilst we stayed at the table.
Not sure if you consider yourself a restaurant or not, but this is nothing more than an average pub that has an inferior service to what you get at McDonald's.
We had intended to celebrate my birthday with desserts also but no chance after the way your staff care about customers.
We won't be going there ever again, will recommend to family and friends they don't go either and will ensure our feedback is also left on every social media platform possible. We are more than just annoyed - this has made us angry and ruined the birthday. It isn't a cheap option so the very least is actually provide a service that...
Read moreThe food was ok, good portion sizes, and well priced. Previous time i came here, dogs were only allowed in the beer garden area, but this restriction has since been reduced. However I find it strange that if dogs are allowed in the pub, that they are not allowed any bowls of water. We were told that if our dogs wanted a drink, they had to go outside. Ultimately any spilt water is not going to damage carpets, any dogs that come in, you would expect are fully house trained and dogs need hydration when they need it and this basic need shouldn’t be restricted. This is still an unnecessary partial restriction. When I went outside at the front of the pub, i saw no water bowls for my dog to drink from. Any other pub I have been to that allows dogs, provides water bowls and a water refill station in the pub. It’s a basic necessity and that requirement for water will increase when the summer hits.
…. Well I can see the owner has replied to this review in what appears to be a sarcastic reply. Ultimately any pub that places any kind of limitation or restriction on a dog and its ability to have a drink indoors (basic need)… is not a dog friendly pub. Tarring all dogs with the brush that they may not be toilet trained and as such can’t be given water indoors just isn’t right. No thoughts to ask the dog owners when they ask for a bowl of water for their dog “is your dog fully house trained or not?” Then applying the rule only to dogs that are not house trained. For your information, your staff pointed out the front of your pub and said the water’s outside, no mention of the water being out the back. Won’t be coming back any time soon to this place and definitely won’t tolerate a sarcastic owner trying to have...
Read moreThis evening my friend and I decided to go to the Dragon Fly as we wanted to try the carvery. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff on duty, which was lovely. However, we were then advised that the carvery was being served from the kitchen and not front of house, due to the fact that the restaurant was going through a quiet period and they wanted to cut down on waste. (I completely understand this but it's not really a carvery in that case - so we decided to order from menu instead).
I ordered the 'surf and turf' and my friend ordered a extremely large 'mixed grill'.
When the food came my steak was not very hot, so I asked them to reheat it on the grill. (I could have been because it was medium rare - but I always have medium rare and have not had that issue before.). However, this did not put me off the food at all and the food was lovely! Especially the crispy chips.
My friends mixed grill looked amazing and he really enjoyed his food as well.
So all in all the food was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed everything on the plates. The only reason I knocked off a star was because of the above, I would have given it 4.5 stars if it was possible. We would both like to go back and eat there again.
Also the restaurant had more than enough parking, was clean, tidy, very smart inside and out. The toilets were also clean! Top marks for the staff the the appearance of the premises. As a bonus it also has an electric car charging point, to give the car a top up while you eat :-)
Thank you so much for an almost perfect evening. Well done to all of you at...
