McDonald's — Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

My husband ordered through Just Eat and the order pinged to say driver was outside, then delivered straight after. Bit odd considering we live in a block of flats that require you to actually buzz into the building. This was around half 7 in the evening. We checked outside our door, the communal lobby and the entrance but nothing.

Husband then rang the restaurant to enquire and the person on the phone said it was strange as the same order number was still waiting to be picked up. He was then told that they would make a fresh order and get it sent out as soon as possible. Gets to around 9pm and still nothing, along with the restaurant not answering the phone + Just Eat not responding.

To try and salvage the evening, we then drove there and explained the situation (also defies the object of having food delivered!) Manager went to check and found the order still sitting there. Wasn’t clear if this was the original order that was ‘delivered’ or the fresh one they mentioned on the phone an hour before.

We came out with our food in the end, and the manager was apologetic, but somewhere along the line someone in the restaurant is messing around with customers orders. I would assume only drivers can change the status of an order that is relevant to being delivered, but who knows?

The food was meh- chips were lukewarm and the wrap barely had any sauce + bacon. We don’t get MacDonalds often so the order was meant to be a surprise for a cosy night in, but caused more of a headache than it...

Wow, where do I start? Put the order in well within the opening hours of the restaurant listed on Just Eat. After waiting 15 minutes from the estimated time of arrival I finally had the notification to say the food was on its way and the driver had collected the order. Wonderful! Me and the Grandmother were happy and waiting for the food! But wait, that would be too easy! 15 minutes later I get a text from Just Eat to see that the order has been cancelled! No reason given in the app or in the text, just simply cancelled.

Now it is too late to order from another restaurant that might actually deliver on their promise so we shall be going hungry this evening.

So to sum it up, McDonalds will not deliver as they say they will, they will leave it until the last moment to let you know they have cancelled, they will offer no explanation and they will leave it so late that you have no option but to skip dinner.

I sincerely hope the manager/management team read this as I would love to hear their comments on this because frankly I think this is incredibly unfair.

You would probably be better off ordering from a well known fires chicken shop or another burger restaurant with royalty in their title as at least they will deliver when they say the will or should I say, deliver at all!!

The food, as always, was delicious and served promptly. It's evident that Macdonald's Basingstoke prioritizes customer satisfaction and strives to deliver excellent service with a smile.
