After checking out all the 5* reviews we didn't care much about the 3* and 1* moaners and groaners... I feel now that I must apologise to these people, they were right. Last night my husband and I visited Tang restaurant to celebrate my birthday and were pleased to enter this fantastic looking place. The staff were pleasant and welcoming even though we hadn't booked, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We were looking forward to a pleasant couple of hours. We ordered a drink and made our choice from the menu, hot plates arrived soon, but it took a further 40 minutes and two requests before our hot hors d'oeuvres arrived. Our plates had gone cold...so we asked for new hot ones. After another 30 minutes of finishing the starters, new hot plates had arrived and we were really looking forward to the crispy shredded duck and pancakes. Regretfully our plates had cooled down substantially, the duck and pancakes were cold. Never mind, it was our evening out and we were going to enjoy it....Long story short, the same routine of waiting yet another 40 minutes, cold plates and excuses by members of staff about the delays our last course was served and soon after we asked for the bill. The "service charge" we deemed excessive after frequenting the premises for more than 3 hours incl. the 110 minutes waiting time. However, entertainment was included coming from large (and very loud) groups who arrived after us... at surrounding tables who, by the way, received excellent service from fast running staff. We took in the increasingly bored faces from people at the other tables who were also still waiting for their food, and some disgruntled customers vacating the premises in some hurry. Not too bad after all, thus. Our thanks go to fellow disgruntled customers for their kind advice, which we'll...
Read moreIt was our daughters bday and wanted to go for some nice dinner some where close to where we stayed and Tangs happened to b. We went there on a Sunday evening as it says buffet. We always make it a point we take her for buffet so she can see what is displayed and choose what she wants rather blindly ordering from the menu but actually it’s not we order and they bring the food to the table so we don’t know what we order. We ordered starters ribs... ducks and seafood. It went well but when we ordered the main course we made sure the food that comes to our table is not spicy as our 9 year old has to eat and enjoy her bday. But the waiters said it was all fine when the food came it was horror crispy chicken was too crispy our teeth’s would pop out and seafood was fillled with vegetables and very less seafood there was hardly three prawns one for each of us. Very disappointed.. we wanted to make it a memorable day for her and worst of all after ordering main course the waiter came and took the menu and said to us if u want to order more u need to pay. WhT is the meaning of buffet then. We make it a point we don’t waste food and also teAch our child not to.. the main intension of coming to a buffet is to see what is displayed and only then take it. The ambience was pathetic. They were more keen on serving their own clients rather than attending somebody new to the restaurant. We have had better Chinese food and have gone to better buffet than this. Pls make sure u inform ur customers what buffet is. Waste of time and day rather than money. They were more interested in making money and preserving their food than customer...
Read moreReally disappointed with service and manager's attitude at us today. Me and my husband used to prefer this restaurant for it's good food and quick service, however they struggle to provide a decent service when its busy, we were waiting an avarage of 30 minutes or more to get to order or to be served, pratically begging for a waiter's attention to order anything. Already not happy with this poor service, when our bill arrived my husband took a quick glance and realised that it should have come to an odd number total our bill however was an even number, after doing the maths we politely queried this with the waitress who rather quickly shot off with our bill, a man who I assume was the manager came and after asking the same question to him he produced a calculator at the table, he then proceeded to type all the numbers in and had obviously taken lessons from Derek Trotter as he entered the service charge incorrectly he then tried to tell us that the computer system rounded up numbers £3.95 making it £38.00 total and that ''maths is for life'' and that We should ''consult the professor'' when My husband explained that when you pay 99p for something you recieve 1p in change and that PEOPLE just dont round up to the nearest £ when they feel like it he was unopolagetic and rather rudely continued to try prove he was right.
Although it was only 5p you would expect someone in the service industry to accept the mistake and apologise.
Won't be returning to there again just based on...
