Sadly I didn’t have a good experience at this Wagamama. I was a solo diner in July 2025.
It was a Sunday and the restaurant was quiet, with very few takeaways being processed and more staff than customers sitting down. The food (katsu curry) came suspiciously quickly, but my green tea did not, and I had to ask for it again while watching the staff I asked wander around the restaurant. The green tea arrived by the time I had finished picking at my plate and the cup was really really filthy.
The food was really poorly presented, cold chicken, very little sauce, and the rice was not sticky and difficult to pick up. I mentioned this to the waitress and that the food arrived I thought with not enough time to actually cook the chicken katsu. She told me they pre-prep a lot of the food but cook the chicken fresh. However, the chicken was not hot when it was served (I ate the chicken because the sauce was warm), so I suspect this wasn’t quite true.
The manager came over to say everything is cooked fresh and then made a really weird upsell pitch trying to get me to buy a dessert (he had previously insisted when I ordered that I keep the dessert menu as I tried to hand it over). It upset me that he clearly thought I was a pushover.
I didn’t want a refund and wasn’t being money grabbing. It was a really disappointing meal, which was obvious because I didn’t finish the food at all. If I hadn’t been so tired and on my own, I wouldn’t have eaten the chicken at all and sent the food back (although most of it went back anyway).
If a customer is saying they didn’t enjoy the food, please listen and don’t just try and get them to buy a dessert.
I eat at Wagamama quite frequently and had a great time at the Greenwich branch just the other week, so this one really...
Read moreI liked Wagamama when I went in a year ago, so I wanted to try the take-away option, and it's honestly a waste of money as far as I can tell. It was for my birthday too, lol. I think if you go into the restaurant you'll be fine, but otherwise please just avoid ordering and picking up.
We ordered to pickup and the food was 10 minutes late so they offered us a (small) slice of cheesecake to compensate. Doesn't really mean much when you spend £75 and they offer you some £4.99 tesco cheesecake SLICE lmao but I guess its better than nothing.
For some reason the dumplings were incredibly burnt at the bottom and they tasted like paper. They also came with the smallest amount of the weakest soy sauce I've ever tasted in a little plastic container, really weird and unsatisfying. It's £5 for five Gyoza dumplings when you can get the same dumplings, bigger in size, £10 for 30 at Costco. Why would frozen dumplings taste better than something you can get at a restaurant? Really makes you think. I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out they pre-make these little dumplings and just freeze them, then when time comes they just throw em on a pan and let them burn. They must make bank out of these things - they're genuinely so tiny.
The main wasn't that bad, besides the fact that it was barely warm. I'm not sure if this was because of the 10 minute delay, or if the food just gets cold fast. We're only 2 miles away from the restaurant. Either way, don't get a takeaway here, just visit in person. Honestly I had more fun writing this stupid review than I did eating my meal. (and again, please don't waste your money on...
Read moreThoroughly rude staff. I’m a delivery partners and was here tonight to collect 2 orders. Your staff had missed one order and it hadn’t been started. I said I would take the order that was ready (dark haired Eastern European girl) but she closed the window on me. I knocked and another person came (make, Indian, burgundy shirt) ‘what’s your problem’ is how he addressed me. So I explained that I had already said to the girl that I would still take the order that was ready, gave him the order number. The guy took an attitude towards me, told me to F off and slammed the collection window on me. Now then, I’m a service partner in the this, such behaviour shouldn’t come from your staff. But also there is a customer at the end of this journey, that’s paid for food to be delivered in a time frame and relatively unspoiled.
You need to sort your team out. I imply no racism by describing the staff members, they were not wearing name tags and you need to know which 2 had the appalling attitudes.
So on 03/05/2024 at 19:50 PM This same male member of staff displayed yet more disrespectful behaviour both towards myself and towards the seated customers. I observed him telling customers in a very abrupt manner that they can either wait or simply Leave. I also observed snappy behaviour towards the patiently waiting delivery drivers and finally telling me to forget it as i would not be handed the order that I was waiting for.
Seriously looks like he can’t handle pressure and has no regards for Wagamama customers both in-house or those...
