Seriously mismanaged. This is not my first visit, I was here about a year ago and had about the same experience. Even though the tables were mostly empty this time, the queue was long and with one poor cashier it took forever for us to get to her. Almost no stock for food and cakes at 3:30, wanted a cream tea but was told the scones will be in 20 minutes and we can’t pay the cream tea price and have only our drinks first so we would have to now leave empty handed or get just drinks, queue it all again (either way) and pay more money if we’re buying drinks and scones separately, as if it wasn’t bloody expensive already and as if we had two hours to spend here on one coffee break. Also, that same one poor cashier was the one who went to the back to even check if there will be more scones so the whole queue got held up even more, this is insane, someone else should be on top of that and not her 🤦🏻♀️ Food kitchen they said just closed. So with literally just flapjacks and three sad cheese scones for an option we gave up and had only coffee and a sandwich, then waited another long queue for the drinks where people were getting through their cakes while standing and waiting 🤦🏻♀️ Everything served in takeaway cups even though they had dozens of clean mugs ready. No tea spoons stocked. Mess everywhere. Drinks orders getting screwed. The only good thing to say is that the staff were lovely, but I have never been so disappointed by a NT cafe before and I’m never coming again. Didn’t help that the estate entrance said it’s closed (with no explanations and no info on this online), even the woodland car park was full and when we waited, parked and got to the house, everything was suddenly miraculously open. What a...
Read moreAbsolutely disappointing! We came as a family to 5 to have a little break from cooking own breakfast and have a play time for kids. I could t be more disappointed and frustrated. Part of brunch menu we ordered 5 bacon baps (honestly the selection was very limited). First staff had to co fun if the can do 5 baps to begin with ?? Did not order enough or didn’t have staff to make them?? Secondly, they brought them literally as we just sat down and the were stone cold! Also were dry too. Considering we drove from far to visit the place we didn’t have any other option but to eat them but hated every minute of it. I could literally do that at home! I also would like to mention that they serve tea in metal pots which are absolutely boiling hot! To serve that on wonky tables with young kids was super dangerous! And I did actually burn my finger trying to hold the top of the lid whilst pouring tea into my cup. That is. It the quality I expected. They should be lead by examples of Square's garden Garden centres where all is clean, level, properly served, music playing and they have colouring prints for kids! I will never be back to this cafe for sure! I will stay away and bring own packed lunches...
Read moreLocated at Cliveden National Trust. A very tasty treat this when you have been wandering around the estate of Cliveden House.
I often enjoy a fantastic, "Cream Coffee" a tasty Scone with lashings of Jam and Cream whilst reading a book. Alternatively they have some tasty soups and main meals that vary throughout the year. Song with successful sandwiches, rolls, cakes and treats. Plus a variety of drinks from hot to cold and varying flavours.
Warm, friendly and helpful staff. The building is clean and warm in the winter months / cool in summer. Although in summer you may find a wasp invasion.
Wash room facilities are located in a separate building outside. There are baby changing facilities and disabled loos available.
Wonderful place to rest and refuel when visiting the beautiful grounds of Cliveden National Trust. Wonderful grounds for your children to play in or for you to explore, see the website for full details.
Whenever I'm in this part of the country it is one of my favourite places to visit and relax. Lots of history and just wonderful. Give it a visit,...
