Came here for the vegetarian tasting menu to celebrate our anniversary.

We don't normally go for fine dining as often it feels like some kind of awkward charade where everyone sits in silence for fear of breaking some obscure unwritten etiquette, however we both felt very comfortable here.

The views are spectacular, and the venue is truly extravagant. The staff were very friendly and treated everyone equally, so we felt very welcome. Everyone was super on top of the COVID-19 measures, ensuring masks were worn at the appropriate times, hand-sanitisers were used etc.

The food was excellent, each of the 7 courses was impeccable, definitely worth the money. We did have troubles locating the restrooms (I had to get two people to describe were they are, both instructions were a vague set of "go left after the curtains then right then left"), and it was assumed that we were having the meat tasting menu, we had some flagging down to quickly change it to vegetarian before it was too late.

However in conclusion we both really enjoyed our time, both the food and the experience, and definitely would be returning again...

Booked Sunday lunch for my birthday as a treat as thought it would be really special with exceptional food and service. In truth very hit and miss. Lovely grand hotel but felt rushed to the dining room so you're not loitering enjoying the entrance hall. The best things about the meal was the sommelier (who naturally knew how to provide good, attentive, service), the rioja (was gorgeous, though £24 a glass), and the roast lamb (perfectly done and came with plenty of accompaniments). However the salmon starters (though using high quality salmon) felt a bit unbalanced with other things on the plate, and the dessert of salted caramel tart was hard and gluey it became inedible. The service though nice enough just didn't particularly make you feel special. It was nice to try as was on my wishlist for some time, but unfortunately wouldn't recommend to others now I've been as expected...

Dirty cutlery. Table clothes that hadn't seen an iron. A vegetarian menu that was a joke. Brocolli for starter and main. The most uncreative vegetarian food I've ever come across. And expensive... Just Brocolli. Staff where great but just suprised at the lack of attention to detail in the dining room. Massively overpriced for such a low class experience. Being British and on a special occasion we didn't want to make a complaint at the time as it would have soured the whole thing but I wanted to get half our money back. Not good. Never again.

Also... What you see as an example menu... Is nothing like what we got on the day. The Roast Chateaubriand of Beef was no better than something I roast at home and repeating the starter on the mains for a vegetarian choice is poor to say the least.

The interiors are beautiful for a dining experience and especially with a window seat. However, we ordered the 7 course tasting menu and we were seated for 2 hours before the 3rd course was served, with at least a 30minute wait between the 2nd and 3rd course. Luckily we had one very entertaining waiter or otherwise we would’ve been too frustrated at that point. One thing to note: the amuse bouche is included as a course on the 7 course menu, so in fact this is a 6 course menu, and portions are quite small, but the trout and the pineapple desert were the main highlights of this menu.

We were enjoying a pre-wedding celebration of afternoon tea and it met every expectation and more. We all had a wonderful time. Our dietary needs were extremely well catered for and the food was perfect. We were made to feel very special, especially the bride to be and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea experience. Huge thanks to the chefs, waiting and other staff for their attentiveness and professionalism.
