We had the pleasure of dining at COCO in Belfast on Friday night, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the restaurant's elegant and stylish décor set the tone for a sophisticated yet welcoming evening. The ambience is beautifully curated, combining modern chic with a cozy, intimate vibe. Upon entering, we were greeted with a warm welcome at the door, immediately putting us at ease. After being shown to a comfortable seating area for pre-dinner drinks, we requested alcohol-free cocktails. Conner, one of the talented staff members, crafted an alcohol-free Bramble that was simply divine – a refreshing and flavourful drink that didn’t make us miss the alcohol one bit. Once we were ready, we were relocated to our table and given time to browse the menu. The selection was impressive, and after some deliberation, we opted for the duck and venison. Both dishes were cooked to absolute perfection, tender and full of flavour, and beautifully accompanied by fresh, seasonal vegetables. It was clear that the chefs at COCO put great care into each plate, balancing flavours and textures to create dishes that are both comforting and exciting. The atmosphere throughout the evening was relaxing, with just the right amount of background music and soft lighting. What really stood out was the attentiveness of the staff. They were always available, ensuring that everything was perfect without being intrusive, which added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. In conclusion, COCO is a must-visit restaurant in Belfast. Whether you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a memorable meal, this establishment offers the perfect blend of ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. I highly recommend it and look forward to...
Read moreVery nice interior, very friendly on arrival.restaurant not overly busy only 6other tables. Ate with 2children, unfortunately colouring menus came but no crayons, asked server for some, she said no problem, five mins later went to bar and got some from bar person.
Menu very nice, some good options. Order taken promptly, good selection for children with 1/2 portions available when requested.
Starters and children's food arrived. I ordered Salt&Chilli venison , Asian slaw dressings. Venison not sliced thinly enough for this dish, Asian slaw was dry no dressing what so ever... But tasty dish if issues could be fixed. Error with order meant wrong starter arrived, waited 5mins but when risotto did arrive it was well cooked and very tasty, lovely saffron undertone. Finished starters, children finished their mains and then waited 10mins for our main course to come, eventually a server came to clear our plates and started to clear table of all cutlery when I had to inform them we hadn't gotten our mains yet... She apologised and then within 3mins our mains arrived.
We couldn't understand the issue as restaurant wasnt busy and plenty of servers chatting to what must be regular customers.
Mains: Were tasty, although pigeon dish was in need of another veg to cut through the richness of the sauce.
We had planned to stay for Desserts but after waiting so long between.previous courses we requested bill.
Lovely restaurant but its a pity about issue between kitchen and restaurant and delays...
Read moreOne of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in Belfast.
The rack of lamb was shockingly poor: bones not scraped, fat and tissue left on, watery potatoes, and a “jus” that was just un-reduced cooking liquid. The pork loin was fatty with soggy potatoes and the same bad sauce.
Desserts were even worse — a cheesecake topped with an overpowering bush of mint and served with a white hair in it (dismissed as “mango fibre”), and a crumble that was raw, claggy, and clearly microwaved. Ice cream was cheap and icy.
Service started off overbearing, then we were ignored for 15 minutes after dessert menus. Cutlery was dumped on dirty napkins, and staff prioritised chatting with friends over service.
The décor (walls plastered with creepy nude art) only added to the uncomfortable experience.
Coco sells itself as fine dining but delivers food and service that would embarrass a chain pub. Hugely overpriced, poorly executed, and not...
