Embarrassed and won't be back.
Phoned the night before to confirm my mother in law's voucher would be honoured, despite it being bought 9 months ago. Told absolutely yes on the phone, and booked for the following evening.
After a great night, my Fiancée went to pay, only to be told the voucher was out of date by the man behind the counter. When told we spoke to staff the night before to confirm it would be accepted, the waitress beside the guy said yes that was me, only to be told no by the guy. Assume thats either the manager or the owner? Either way, to be told yes, and then no, just stinks of poor customer service and ruined what was a lovely night.
No apology from the staff, or any sort of good will or kindness gesture to even take £5 off the bill. Just thanks for the £50 and pay up in full. Night ended with embarrassment and bewilderment. We were actually saying during the meal that we would be back, and also what we would be trying next time from the menu. No chance now, not after that. Will not be back, and will also not be recommending the restaurant to anyone when asked. If that's the reputation you want, so be it. Will take our money elsewhere.
Edit: since we can't reply to the joke of a response below, look at the defensiveness of the place. So it's our fault? Even though we phoned? We told the person on the phone exactly what the voucher said, hence why we booked. Think we would have booked if we were told no? You took £50 off her daughter for a voucher, and then just pocketed the money. Joke of a place, don't go near it...
Read moreOn our way back to Dublin from Giants Causeway we stopped in Belfast. We and never been before and really didn't know what we wanted to do. We knew we needed some wifi though. We searched for a coffee shop with wifi and parked in the first spot we could find. Just so happened that Ivor's restaurant was right in front of us. The place was beautiful and had a fair amount of people inside so we decided that was where we wanted to eat. We were not at all disappointed. Not only was out waitress very helpful and friendly, but she gave us some recommendations for stuff to do and it ended up making our trip to Belfast a very memorable one. The food was great here. My daughter and her friend had the French onion soup and didn't stop talking about it for the rest of the night. I had Ivor's Beef burger and was not disappointed. It was juicy and full of flavor. My daughter had the lasagna which I tried and it was delicious too. Creamy and full of flavor. My daughter's friend had the Chicken Burger and said it was also fantastic. Thank you so much for an...
Read moreWe usually have breakfast and lunch on lisburn road from a selection of lovely places but were recommended Ivors by a friend. Well they're not my friend anymore. I knew when I walked in the smell of the food cooking wasn't appetising at all, like stale oil. The waitress was absolutely brilliant though and so good with kids. She brought colouring pages and a wee treat for after for the little one. She was a great laugh also and couldn't do enough for us. The food though...someone at the table mentioned the menu looked cheap cost-wise. But when I think what you would get in French Village Bakery or Output for example, the prices were in and around the same. The quality of the food however was the opposite. Mine was supposed to be on sourdough, it came on Tesco value white loaf, smashed avocado was unseasoned/tasteless, whatever they fried the bacon is was nauseating. The rest of the table finished about half as they were starving but we've learnt our lesson anyway. Again, waitresses were lovely and it was busy so it must cater to...
