Went to the lisburn Road branch this afternoon for lunch.
Restaurant is beautifully laid out, can't even tell it used to be an Eddie rockets. Service was amazing by the staff, they are very attentive and willing to answer any questions you may have. We ordered the king prawn curry, crispy pork neck rice bowl, salt and chilli chips and Vietnamese prawn crackers. Prawn crackers were okay, some were really fresh and crispy, others were a little soggy. Salt and chilli chips are identical to Kawa/Waka takeaways version which is slightly disappointing as a sit down restaurant twist on them would have been nicer. Crispy pork neck was well cooked but unfortunately the batter was rather lacking in seasoning. Egg was fried to perfection, and the curry dip was good in a small amount. The prawn were plentiful and well cooked, however the curry was rather bland and quite sickening as a whole meal. Understandably a coconut curry should taste of coconut but it would have been nice to have other flavours to complement it, genuinely was similar to eating coconut milk. However I cannot fault the portion sizes in the slightest. Portions are huge and well worth the price. It just would have been nicer to have a more restaurant twist on the dishes as they are incredibly similar to kawa and Waka dishes (I can get them from home whenever I would like, going for a sit down meal I would like the food slightly different).
Sincerely cannot fault the service in the slightest, there was many staff working which meant every table had the attention it needed or wanted.
Slightly disappointed the offer for the free coconut in opening week (17th-22nd) wasn't being advertised and is not mentioned at any point.
Shame the card machine also was not working, the restaurant is operating via bank transfer and cash only as...
Read moreFancied Asian food and just having had a pho back in London only a week ago decided to go for the special curry combo (beef, chicken and prawns)... the food arrived within an instant (within 3 minutes) which makes me believe the food was already pre-cooked and not only that, it was simply NOT good at all!! The beef cubes tasted like fake meat, chicken was just boiled with no flavour. I had to ask for lots of coriander and red chillies just to make it somewhat flavoursome. The waitress asked how the food was and I had to say it was just not good and it tasted like curry powder paste blended with some cornflower with water to make the sauce. She insisted it was made from scratch and that there was no curry powder - hahahaha (I had to laugh)!!. Impossible! I love to cook, I love to eat, I love to travel and sample all kinds of food and flavours from all over the world. I was in Vietnam the year before and have eaten some amazing Vietnamese food. This was not made fresh nor from scratch. A pho is a pho is a pho - as long as the broth is good there is not much else and my partner's pho was...well...ok. Thats it! My dish was not to my liking. No disrespect to anyone who cooks, eats or loves it there but, it is not good and if one does not know better then hey ho.... the dish was £14.95 (expensive for what it was and were it was)! A soda lime water was £2.95. The banana fritter was ok because the batter was light but the oil it was cooked in seemed to be old, the banana was cold inside. So, all in all you can tell I did not enjoy it there at all. This is my only ever negative review in a very long time (especially about...
Read moreAn almost enjoyable experience spoilt by the staff. Upon arriving yesterday we were warmly greeted and asked if we had been before to which we replied that this was our first visit. We were then offered the alcohol menu which was declined and then asked which other drinks we wanted and my wife ordered tea. We were given the menus and our order was taken for 2 starters and 2 mains. It didn't take long before the first of our mains arrived and I stated that we wanted our starters first and was told this is street food so you get it when it's ready. This was soon followed by the 2 starters and the cup of tea. With 3 dishes on the go it was difficult to enjoy and when the 2nd main course arrived there was barely any room on the table. Sadly, by the time we got to the last, and most expensive meal it was stone cold and inedible to me. If the explanation given about the service had been given at the start then we would have ordered 1 dish at a time and not ordered another until it was finished. Apart from the last dish the food was tasty and enjoyable and I was particularly impressed by the chicken wings which surely require a finger bowl to accompany them. We will return, wiser, but paying £45 and not even receiving an apology for their lack of foresight in telling us about the service does leave a sour taste...
