If I could give it 0 stars I would have been coming here with couple of years it's an ok place you get what you pay for I mainly come here for price and parking which is locked in ...

Have been coming here for a couple of years and never ever had a issue until today ..

I always recognise the same guys on the reception all the time and they know me from been there ...

Until tonight I met a nasty receptionist I lost my wallet earlier this week and lost all my identity with it despite that the NEW lady would not let me enter the hostel because I had no idea she said I would loose my job despite me having a picture of every id I have on my phone in the event I did loose it ...

I have been coming here for several years and have never been asked for id the guys even know my name there I am so recognised there ...

I have never ever caused a ounce of trouble there or made a complaint about facilities there which sometimes I should have but never did ...

I am now sitting in my van having to sleep in here for the night due to this problem which is totally unfair on my behalf I had a picture of my id with me there is no difference looking at it on a photograph to having it in your hand as I said I have been here for years and never had a issue with anyone else until I met this new staff member today ...

I can just imagine someone coming here with kids or a disabled person or a person with special needs and been turned away and having no where to sleep and been hours away from home ..

shame on that particular receptionist not the rest of the crew never had a single issue with them just this particular receptionist that has been on tis evening very arrogant person to deal with just to think of leaving regularly basis people put on the street due to them loosing there identification is crazy it is not my first time been here and will probably be my last after this incident as I am now booked for 2 days and have no where to stay ..I even go to the extend of cleaning my own room before I leave to have less pressure on the workers abousalute shambles... This new receptionist needs to be reviewed before the company looses alot of businesses...

And I know it is company policy with identity but howany times does regular person needs to show identity when they are well know and it is booked on system numerous times...

worst holstel I have ever stayed at, at first glance it appears to be nice with friendly staff but as soon as an issue or you question something they get very angry and make you leave, in this case my friend, who booked a 2 man room there, got put into a room with 2 other people, when he asked the reception staff about this and asked what about the 2 man room he booked they just kicked him out, apart from the unfriendly staff the wifi wasn't working, the window was broken with it not shutting properly and the cleanliness was appalling, mould growing along all the window ledges and windows that hadn't looked they had seen a cloth in months, there were blood marks in the bathroom and handprints on the walls in one of the rooms we were staying in. In the room there is a filing cabinet pushed up against the edge of one of the bed making the ladder in-accessible and a pain to get up. there was a unpleasant smell all throughout the hostel once you got out of reception. woke up with bites and itches all over after spending a couple nights in the beds. I understand its a hostel so not expecting the best conditions but I would at least expect clean ones. Overall I would give it a 2/10 as it did its job

EDIT: the detail is extremely accurate and just because it doesn't suit you doesn't mean it isnt, we were never going to ask the other guests to leave, who would even think of something like that, we had a reservation for 6 people, not 8, and just because we became friendly with 2 of the other guests does not mean they were part of our party, as for being kicked out of the Hostel you told them to leave and in my opinion that's being kicked out.. you say its highly rated yet you cant accept criticism and negative reviews, whats the point of having reviews if you don't take any of the negative things and try to...

I recently stayed at the Belfast International Youth Hostel in a private room during my trip to Belfast. While the location of the hostel was absolutely perfect — centrally located and within walking distance of most key attractions — and the view from the room was quite pleasant, unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing.

To begin with, the room itself was well below average. The cleanliness left much to be desired. The floor tiles were not properly fixed, which not only looked unkempt but also made walking around uncomfortable. The room felt very outdated, as though it hadn’t been refurbished or even properly maintained in the past 10 years.

The bathroom, although technically clean, was extremely old and poorly maintained. Fixtures were worn out, the design felt decades behind, and the general atmosphere gave a sense of neglect. It was far from the standard one would expect, even from a budget accommodation.

Now, coming to the bed — it was genuinely the worst I’ve ever encountered in any hotel or hostel. It was incredibly squeaky; even the slightest movement, like adjusting my leg, would result in loud creaking noises that disrupted my sleep. The bedsheets and duvet did not feel clean, and the bedding overall lacked the freshness and comfort expected from any kind of paid accommodation.

In summary, while the location and view were the only redeeming aspects of the stay, the room condition, bathroom quality, and especially the bed comfort were far below acceptable standards. With some serious attention to maintenance and upgrades, the hostel could greatly improve the guest experience — but as it currently stands, I would not recommend...

Stayed here, as recommended by a friend. Very quick check in service and friendly staff on arrival. £5 deposit is required for each room key, but this is given back to you, when you check out. We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor, 1 double and one single, the rooms are ideal for what you want and need, the beds are very comfortable and both had orthopaedic mattresses, you only get one pillow, but I am sure if you ask at reception they will give you another one. The bathrooms are very spacious and functional, as they are wet rooms, the shower takes some adjusting, as the shower head is so close to the wall. Towels are provided at reception, however they aren't huge, so you may wish to take your own with you. Doors are clocked in the evening, so you have to buzz to be let in and they check your room key, so you have to be a guest to come in after a certain time. There are tables and chairs throughout reception, where guests can sit and eat and drink . Hot water is available, however this is only available during certain times, posters are hung up, so that you know. Pub crawl tours are available from here. There is a pub opposite and a company doing tours in and around Belfast. It is about a 10-15 minutes walk into the centre of town, so pubs, restaurants and shops are all within easy access. There are 2 bars, (laverys & Benedict's), a pizza & kebab shop and a KFC within 1000 yards. If you're planning on being out most of the day exploring the city, this is an idea base.
