This was our second time visiting this restaurant. The first was a few years ago and I have to say we really were not impressed, first things first they said we had the table until 8pm and we didn’t even get served our food until 730pm giving us 30 minutes to eat and drink? Once our food came out the chips were undercooked, hard not nice to eat at all. My peer got the battered haddock and in his words “you cannot even taste the fish in this”. I got the sirloin steak asked for medium rare, it was not cooked to medium rare it was over cooked. The garlic on my chunky chips wasn’t garlicky at all was just oily and again the chips were undercooked. My other peer also got the sirloin steak only asked for garlic butter on top and it was pure green and she said it did not taste right at all. There was a group of about 18 of us and every single person who got chips they were undercooked. The menu we were given hadn’t changed since we were in the restaurant years ago. I will not be returning to this restaurant can find better steak and chips in belfast city centre and for cheaper overrated...
Read moreI recently visited Neill's Hill Brasserie and, regrettably, the experience fell short of expectations. We chose the Neill's Hill Kitchen Carvery, but immediately noticed glaring inconsistencies in portion sizes. The table next to ours, who also ordered the carvery, received significantly larger servings—so much that their order required two trays, even though their party only included one more person than ours. This made us feel undervalued as customers.
It was evident that the neighboring table received preferential treatment, likely due to their status as regulars. The staff displayed remarkable attentiveness towards them, which further highlighted the disparity in service quality. Given the price point, such unequal treatment is simply unacceptable.
I cannot recommend Neill's Hill Brasserie. Ballyhackamore boasts a range of fantastic dining establishments where you'll be treated with fairness and genuine appreciation for your custom. Save your money and explore those...
Read moreStaying locally on a weekend away, and booked an evening meal here, as the menu looked varied and to our tastes. Neil's did not disappoint, the food was delicious, we had bread and dips to start, and Spanish croquettes, which were fantastic, bread was warm, tasty tapenade. Mains we ordered the haddock and chips, and the spinach, sweet potato and chickpea curry, with rice poppadom and dips 10/10. Hubbie had a pear and almond tart for pud ,which was comforting, warm, and moist, went well with a dollop of cream and a must. The Mercia Spanish wine of the month was my favourite, smooth and light and I had 2, followed by raspberry vodka Collins (2) loved these. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the locals warm and welcoming, which is why we stayed linger than expected. The bill was so reasonable considering we had two courses each and 1 pud and 6 drinks £125 ( £70 on drinks) I thought it was more but who's complaining. Definitely book again when we return to Belfast...5...
