I am on holiday in Belfast. The Chester was within walking distance from my lodgings. I read the initial reviews; at the time of my review were a 4.0 so I was a little skeptical. The bar/pub itself was beautiful, clean and cozy. It reminded me of a lodge in Montana. It was a bit later in the evening so I had already eaten dinner. When I came in there were quite a few guests at the bar and at the dining tables. Football (aka soccer was on the tube) There was a young lady being trained and several staff members about. I heard several guest saying how "lovely" their meals and desserts were. The staff were very attentive to me when my drink needed filling the were there accommodate. I will be back several more times before my holiday is over. so far the lack of 5 out 5 stars has to do with the mixed drinks are expensive. £7 for a monthly special (a rum and coke) is a bit high where I come from.. a monthly special is usually a inexpensive drink to get you to try a new product. I also want to try the food for myself to see just how good it is......

Some of the staff here are the rudest I have ever encountered. Visited twice when it was The Last Drop and decided not to return after receiving bad service with a stinking attitude by one girl in particular. After they claimed to be bringing back the ‘good old Chester’ I assumed they might have made some changes to their service but no. Arrived on Friday for a few drinks then we were asked to move to another table as I think they had messed up someone’s table booking. We were moved under a speaker and once the karaoke started it was borderline deafening, I’m all for a good time but people were covering their ears it was that loud. I went to the staff and explained to see if we could be moved elsewhere or the speaker turned down to be told by the doorman ‘Take it up with the dj’ while the servers completely blanked me. Rude and not acceptable. I believe small businesses should be supported, but to treat paying customers like that on several occasions- they deserve...

To be honest I won't be back. Sure there worried. But anyway . Staff unhelpful apart from 1 girl who was very nice. But as for food .over priced. Over cooked peppered chicken steak was freezing. Was replaced only for the staff to stand over it .Watch while a piece was eaten asked is that ok .rude.. . Also food stuck to the wall at table we eating. Disgusting. to bill kids meal £8.95. not £11.95. £2.30 for deluded orange. Charged for a 3 course when one adult had 2 course. But said no it right. Average food for a basic restaurant. Personally it's run it course. Cheap nasty food at over priced rates. Guinness was very watered down I thought. To use to Kelly's lol. But there you go. Desert was fine. Hence the 2 stars. Staff need to put a smile on there face....

We were in for the Grinch experience, a party of 5 adults and 6 kids. There was plenty of parking available on site when we arrived. We were welcomed by the manager and shown to our seats. The staff were very pleasant for the entire time. Servers brought menus over quickly and got our drink and food orders efficiently. When all food was brought out, all meals were piping hot. The portions were a good size. Food was really tasty

Food deplorable, "fillet steak" tasted and felt like it was left steeping in water and charged £28. £28 for a small fillet steak that probably cost them £1 to buy. Understand if it was a gordon ramsey restaurant but a bar in a working class area, disgraceful and disgusting. P.s yes the picture is in fact the entire "steak", more a steak piece
