Serving quality food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, Ginger Bistro, located just a short walk from the Grand Opera House, is an excellent city centre pre-theatre venue.

We called in for a long overdue visit, and had a fabulous meal. With its long-standing relationship with local suppliers, Ginger Bistro uses top quality ingredients to create a seasonal menu whilst retaining lots of its customer favourites.

To start, we had some terrific “Fancy Drinks”; a zingy Ginger Martini, and classics are also available-the Negroni was top notch!

To start, we had a dish of succulent Fried Tiger Prawns on a Carrot & Fennel Salad, with Pineapple Salsa and a Soy & Pickled Ginger Dressing, and a tangy Pear, Walnut & Young Buck Blue Cheese Tart with Celeriac Remoulade, Watercress & Apple.

Our main courses were also superb; a Roast Fillet of Cod, with Peas and Leeks in a White Wine Cream, packed with Orzo, Prawns, and sprinkled with Gremolata, and Fillet of Seabass with Broccoli on a Red Pepper & Tomato Salsa with hints of Basil, Almonds, and some Baby Roast Potatoes. And the accompanying Cauliflower Fritters with Truffle Oil Mayo were a golden, crunchy delight.

With delicious food complemented by a bottle of Cuatro Rayas Verdejo which paired perfectly with the seafood dishes, this was a brilliant meal in this popular, well established...

Beautiful atmosphere - went there for a romantic meal. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Answered all questions on the menu with knowledge. The toilets were spotless and well appointed.

The first thing I noticed was the beautiful glassware....cut crystal glasses which I loved! The staff explained the COVID policy of one-use menus (great idea!) and gave us the appropriate time to make our choices off them. The food was OUTSTANDING! We had the Mussels and their famous Squid starters - best we'd had in a long time. We both then had the Seabass Fillet for our main course.... OMG! I am still thinking about how good it tasted! The hazelnut crispy topping was outstanding! My better half had the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert (which he enjoyed) , while I opted for the Hazelnut Meringues. I have to say this is where I was just a little disappointed. The meringue was obviously a shop bought meringue nest and while the hazelnut flavoured chocolate mousse was lovely, I just felt it was let down by the meringue.

Overall a strong 9/10 and I will be looking to visit again on my next...

My two daughters and I visited Ginger Bistro for the first time on 21 July 2023. We had the most delicious meal from the starters right through to dessert. I had the blue cheese & pear tartlet which was amazing. The flavours really complemented each other. I had seabass (perfectly cooked) for main and the nduja butter really made it but the veg and dauphinoise potatoes were also delicious. Every ingredient was fresh. I followed this up with chocolate mousse. Who doesn't love some chocolate to finish? Cocktails also delicious especially RJs Ladygarden. The most endearing part of our meal was the wonderful staff and the service they provided. They welcomed us warmly even though our taxi had let us down and we arrived late. They served each course with a good tonic of Belfast charm and wit. It was so wonderful to have local food served by local staff providing a taste of what Belfast has to offer. Absolutely wonderful and we will definitely be back. I would give this a...

We visited The Ginger Bistro with friends as they rated the restaurant highly for its food and atmosphere. They weren't lying. The staff are super friendly and helpful while the nicely balanced menu has some excellent dishes. Since the squid starter is apparently a staple we took the hint and yes it's great. Afterwards I continued the seaside theme by moving onto the sea bream. A good choice as the fish was perfectly grilled while the potato that came with it was excellent. The only downside is that The Ginger Bistro is popular and it was packed on a Friday night. So it did get a bit noisy and hard to hear - although of course we played our part in creating that problem! Overall then this is a great restaurant to visit with friends if you enjoy good food and lively conversation. I suspect that you'll want to book a table in advance though to avoid disappointment.

Went here Friday 27/06/25, booked for 8:15pm, party of 4. And it was a really enjoyable meal, and a dining experience. As said in previous reviews, it can be a bit noisy, but that adds to the atmosphere. The starter was a prawn tempura with salad, and it was delicious. As well as broccoli in a very light batter, and salad. Mains being the rib eye steak, medium, and it was really tender, as it was pink in the middle, full of flavour and totally delicious. It was accompanied with skinny chips and pepper sauce, which went over the chips. Other dishes were chicken, and they also were really tender and tasty. Dessert was crème brulee which was perfection. As well as sticky toffee pudding, which was also delightful. Including drinks and all meals, it was just under £220, the service was and is really professional and friendly, a real enjoyable meal.
