Visiting Belfast for the first time we happened to call in on a busy Saturday afternoon around 4pm & it was packed with afternoon shoppers, middle aged pre evening revellers & a hen party of a dozen or so young women. The atmosphere was quite loud & lively but with a jovial feel...no negative vibes att all.
My girlfriend and I were very hungry so we bagged a recently vacated table by the front doors & quickly decided on our order. I went to the bar to order & there were 2 queues to do so, which seemed to be a good idea rather than a scramble of everybody for themselves! There were a lot of bar & kitchen staff (all very young with a couple of slightly older supervisors) behind the bar & they appeared to be very busy.
As it got to my turn, after about 5 mins, the person serving disappeared so another couple of mins waiting until another bar staff came to take my order, which they did with a confident demeanour indicating they knew the til menu system. With that done they went to get my drinks made, again with a confident knowledge of the bar. The meal & drinks were of a reasonable price as Wetherspoons are known for.
I took our drinks back to the table & chatted & people watched eagerly waiting for the food! Within 5 mins or so a young man, looking slightly flushed, with being busy, arrived with our food & partly took away a couple of glasses previously left on the table. The food, the chicken curry meal, was tasty & filling! It certainly did the job!
By this time the pub was slowly emptying & the hub bub had subsided a bit so we decided to move into the centre of the big room from our table by the draughty door. We sat down & decided to go for dessert which my girlfriend did so on her way to the toilet. The dessert arrived approximately 6 mins later & was served by a busy but nice mannered young woman. We ate the desserts, chocolate fudge cake & chocolate cookie & felt appropriately stuffed.
After a few mins more, making plans on what to do next, we left the now more sedated atmosphere of the pub & staff wiping down tables, changing from the afternoon eating (& drinking) crowd to prepare for a more drinking Saturday night crowd. Overall the experience was very good in a very busy time period for the busy staff. Well done The Bridge...

Read moreMy partner and I arrived in Wetherspoons and ordered food at 5:37 on a Saturday, very aware of how busy it was. We ordered two baskets of chicken bites and a plate of chips, as well as two pitchers. The pitchers arrived within ten minutes. After waiting 40 minutes for our food, we asked a member of staff who said it was an hour wait for food. That’s fine, so we wait some more. After an hour and 45 minutes of waiting, I go to the bar to ask about our food. They don’t have our order, it’s not on their system, we’re told it could’ve been delivered to the wrong table. We’re offered a refund or to have our food remade and ask for it to be remade as we want the food we paid for. She said it was now a 15 minute wait for food. 25 minutes later our food arrived and I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and explained that it took over two hours for us to get our food. The manager that comes to our table proceeds to argue with us about how busy they’ve been despite explaining that it had been over a two hour wait for some chicken and chips, that they had delivered our order to the wrong table and we had to ask for it to be remade. He continued to argue with us saying that they had been busy all day and more people were still coming in- I said that there were empty tables now because it was no longer as busy as when we had arrived two hours earlier and that they had lost our order. He shrugged and said all he could do was apologise. They rest of the staff we spoke to were lovely and understanding, even customers beside us were angry on our behalf- the manager we spoke to was dismissive, argumentative and rude. We were offered no compensation, not even a free drink. The food and drinks were nice despite...
