African Village Restaurant & Late Bar — Restaurant in Birmingham

On arrival with my guest there were some guys hanging by the entrance we had to literally squeeze past them

The inside seem ok but without taste or any design to reflect any African heritage but rather reminder of how impoverished an African establishment or setting Is most likely to look

I said to the lady at the reception we would like to order different delicacies My guest is a non African she was interested in tasteing what was on offer So my question was can we have our food taken away if we couldnt finish ? The answer was yes ..

Pounded yam arrived eventually and I would say it was tasty, unwkobi also arrived but the meat was hard as rock and unedible

Nevertheless we had lots on the table and could not finish so we asked to take them home

Here's the horrific response from staff I was told to bring the food from my table to the kitchen / reception myself I blatantly refused and told the staff it was unfair on a customer My jaw instantly dropped walking back to my desk 😱😡👹👺☠️ His words were ok I will send someone to help

I went back to my dinner table and a young girl came who seem to have her back and front inflated with helium gas with her waistline under lock and key. She retorted as she arrived, saying oh we're very busy now, 🙄which was also a shock, she took the food and came back after 10mins and simply chuck the carrier bag of takeaway at me and my guest

I had the worst night of my life and the biggest humiliation in front of my girlfriend who is a non African I cannot ask people not to go there but please be forewarned and ready for hot soup 🍜 to be poured on your head if youre not so lucky as me

A very disappointing experience, I don't even know where to start from. A little of the positives; the plantain was nice, I mean you can't go wrong and the fish was so yummy, very flavourful however the accompanying sauce was ridiculously spicy... You can't serve something that spicy without there being caution on the menu not everyone has food extremely spicy like that and I eat spicy food but that was out of order to serve people that. The menu also says fish peices but they give you one peice, that needs to be corrected. Now for the jollof... I have never been so upset, I've never tasted jollof so disgusting in my life. The rice smells so unpleasant, I don't know if it was off but we can't describe the odd tasting food. So disgusting the 3 peices of meat I was given consisted of 1 beef peice and 2 portions of pure fat. I reported this and the guy changed it but the other peices were just fat too. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to complain anymore, I was just fed up at this point🤢 🤢. Customer service doesn't really exist, staff should not allow customers be rude to other customers, rushing them. Only people that speak yourba gets that special treatment and guests notice this. Also we do not appreciate the till worker singing extremely loud over the music when there is already music. This was 1pm in the afternoon we want a relaxing lunch not feeling confused and nervous because a staff member is screaming whilst singing. This...

Awful food and service: I ordered “Assorted Meat Soup Starter” for home delivery, as I was expecting pepper soup which I ordered before when I went into the restaurant with a friend 2 weeks before. I like it when I eat it at the restaurant, hence I ordered home delivery expecting the same "Assorted Meat Soup Started" I ordered before. After waiting 1hr 20minutes, it eventually arrived. What was send looks like egusi soup mixed with lots of water, doesn't smell nice and taste nothing like pepper soup (Assorted Meat Soup Starter) I eat at the restaurant.

I normally do not give review, but this is so bad that I have to vent and let other people know about this.

I was not only disappointed but furious after waiting more than an hour to get watery egusi soup or whatever watery soup that was sent. And I think the person that sent it thinks the customer will not know or what. Or they are fool?

The most annoying part is that my child was sick and wanted pepper soup but end up getting crap instead.
