First visit to this restaurant, nice decor.
Staff were friendly.
We had asked them about allergy information as my son has a nut allergy but they said they didn't think there were nuts in the dishes??? Shocking that they are open for a few days and no one knows essential allergy information. EHO would have told them they were unable to serve anyone with any allergy without it with immediate effect.
The young staff have been poorly trained prior to the opening and not knowing this meaning no one including supervisors is unacceptable.
We ordered a starter for two which was reasonable in terms of quantity and taste. The halloumi was a stand out winner on the platter.
Main course we ordered Kebabish / Chips which was terrible - full of oil / grease - pretty hideous and I could not eat much of it, the Naga sauce was a bit too sickly which didn't help - my water was the highlight of my main course! Edgbaston tap water never tasted so good!
I did inform them of this greasefest and they said it should not have been greasy and that it was a mistake to have served it like that, but they were not minded to bring another one or talk about it again but did agree to remove the offensive dish leaving me watching my boys tuck in whilst I was still hungry - but had somewhat lost my confidence to order anything else.
I would rate my meal as a one star.
My children each ordered Burgers, Chicago Chicken and Boston Beef burger which they enjoyed and they looked mighty tasty to me against the glistening oil field I had in front of me earlier.
I would visit again but would certainly stay away from the greasy kebab, play it safe.
Portion sizes were reasonable and I am sure they will be successful if they can ensure the cooks are providing the waiting staff with decent tasty food consistently. - The waiting staff were too clueless to notice ocean of oil and should have said to the cook - the dish looks disgusting but maybe over time and decent training they will.
I would not recommend this place to anyone but at the same time I would say to people to go there, it's worth a try, a nicely located food place with plenty of parking and decent atmosphere and above average food at a reasonable price (excluding the Kebab...
Read moreI was disappointed when everybody states chickaros is great and when I tried it because I wanted to go for a graduation meal, it wasn’t great at all. The interior was lovely and nice, very quiet which is how I like it. We ordered our food and drinks, the food arrived first, it looked good, but wasn’t. My friends rice was stone cold like it just came out of the refrigerator like they only heated it up for 40 seconds as when I took a bite the rice was still stuck together. My other friend had a hair in her Parmesan, and mine and my other friends chicka chips were very cold, I believe the sauce made it colder. None of us recieved coleslaw with our meals, only one of my friends did when she received the wrong Parmesan as she ordered hot shot and not classic. The drinks came out 15 minutes after the food, the waitress apologised and gave us complimentary drinks which I am very grateful for. This chickaros was disappointing and I don’t think I’ll return to this branch, it was quiet and I think I understand why now, we didn’t get dry ice either. I believe you should have more staff to support the waitress at the front as it was just her when it started to get a bit busy, I stopped complaining as I felt bad for her. and you need better chefs as we were the only ones there and they still managed to mess up our food. I have worked in a chickaros before and I felt like serving myself at one point and the experience would have been better. Do...
Read moreDeeply disappointed at this branch of Chickaros. I've visited the other 2 around Birmingham, whilst I haven't left a review on them as they where ok, standard.
This was disappointing.
Service was good, arrived and seated by the waiter. At the time we arrived it was only us and one other table. So I can't imagine it being any less then good service.
Ordered our food and was excited to try the 'most popular' items on the menu. These where 'out of stock' on our day. So already a let down there.
We then went on to order.
Ordered the kids meals first, and ours as the kids where starving at this point.
I ordered the 'smash burger' as I was feeling this.
Orders placed and then we waited for it to come to us. Took about 20 mins, but the adults food arrived first. Which means the kids where just there watching and feeling upset. By the time the kids food arrived our food was cold, so had to re send this back which the waiter confirmed he will 'warm it up'. That can only mean one thing, a microwave. When my burger came back, I did order a 'smash burger' but this came as a pre frozen beef patty and not fresh at all.
As I am not a fan of processed beef I left this burger there and asked why does it say smash and it isn't. Apparently this is how they do it.
Left the food there and ate my cold chips that where re microwaved.
Absolutely disappointing as this place can be good, but it doesn't...
