On my recent visit to Soofi Restaurant in Birmingham, I was treated to a true Persian dining experience that blended authentic flavours with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
We began with the Halim Bademjan, a beautifully rich aubergine dip infused with lentils, garlic, and a gentle touch of mint. Its creamy texture paired perfectly with the fresh, warm bread, setting the tone for an indulgent meal ahead.
For mains, the variety of kebabs showcased the very best of Persian grill mastery. The Joojeh Kebab was tender and juicy, marinated with saffron and lemon to give a delicate yet flavourful bite. The Koobideh Kebab, made from minced lamb, was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and melted in the mouth. The Chenjah Kebab—succulent cubes of marinated lamb—was the star of the evening, grilled to perfection with a smoky, charred edge that highlighted the quality of the meat.
All of this was complemented by fragrant saffron rice, each grain fluffy and lightly golden, which elevated every kebab into a complete, satisfying dish.
The balance of flavours, the authenticity of the cooking, and the generous portions made this meal one to remember. Soofi doesn’t just serve food—it serves tradition, hospitality, and a slice of Persia in the heart of Birmingham.

Today I had the pleasure of dining at a Persian restaurant in Birmingham with my daughter ( she had great grilled prawns ) , and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. It was only my second time trying Persian cuisine—and the first time in a restaurant—but I was absolutely blown away by the richness and depth of flavours.
The highlight for me was the Iranian tea, beautifully aromatic with hints of cinnamon and cardamom. It was served with such care and attention to detail, accompanied by elegant, caramelized sugar sticks that added a lovely touch of sweetness.
For the main course, I had saffron rice served with lamb shank in a delicately spiced, flavorful sauce. Every bite was tender and bursting with taste. We also enjoyed a delicious salad called ‘fattoush’, which added a fresh and vibrant contrast to the meal.
Adding to the wonderful experience was the service—we were looked after by an incredibly beautiful and polite young woman, whose warmth and kindness made us feel truly welcome.
The entire experience felt thoughtfully curated, from the presentation to the warmth of the service. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone curious about Persian cuisine. I left feeling satisfied, impressed,...
Read moreAn amazing place within the outskirts of Birmingham serving classical Persian cuisines from a simple yet elegant menu.
We had a array of starters ranging from fresh warm bread which was crispy and soft at the same time. And an aubergine dip which was tangy and flavourful. The falafel was also extraordinary.
The main as you can see in the images are huge. Enough to satisfy two giants!! The classical kobideh is served with saffron rice and a small serving of onions and pickles. The kebab itself was soft and incredibly tender with lots of flavour melting in your mouth. I struggled to even finish half the meal!!
The server was very warm and welcoming with a smile on her face the entire time which made us feel at home. The decor is great resonating with the Persian diaspora within the UK with a modern twist.
The location is clean, tidy and quiet. There is a car park located just behind it, you just have to validate the parking with your registration plate.
I would highly highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a fantastic environnement with even better food to satisfy both your taste buds and your stomach.
Food prices ranged between £13-20 per main and £3-6 for starts,...
