I'm writing this "6" star review about my experience yesterday (25th Nov 2023) at Wex Photo Video Birmingham :)
I was in Birmingham for the day and I went in, had a quick look and talked to one of the staff members, (I didn't catch her name), but she got me over to a guy called Jake Craig, and he's the soundest guy I've met in all of customer service :)
Jake heard me out, understood my needs and tailored his recommendations very specifically to my current equipment, whilst also providing quality user-end information and personal experience on certain products. Jake is one clever guy! I came in looking for a new tripod and new on-camera microphone and I came out very happy with a new tripod head (which was all I needed which I didn't know!) and a solid on-camera microphone.
We had a proper laugh at the till also and the staff were all lovely and it felt like they genuinely wanted to be there and help their customers. It was a genuinely refreshing time, as unfortunately, IN GENERAL, both working in customer service and being on the other end can be quite negative with many customers, HOWEVER, this was NOT the case at this Wex. It was positive, vibrant and the energy was excellent.
I've dealt previously with the Wex store in Bristol and that was positive also. I would highly recommend Wex in general, and specifically this store if you're in the area!
A couple general notes, it seems like there was about a dozen parking spaces outside, however, I can't comment on the parking restrictions, if any are in place. I just parked the car. Give me a ticket đ

   Read moreI recently made an online purchase of a used Leica Q2, graded as a 9. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it presented a few issues. The one issue was what looked like a black fleck of paint smack centre, inside the EVF. I took it in to the awesome guys at the Birmingham store and Scott arranged for me to return it for repair. However, Scott could see how gutted I was, especially when there was no timescale on how long it would be. I think just over a week had past and Scott contacted me to say my camera was ready. When I arrived back at the Birmingham store, as always, I was greeted with a smile and treated as though I had walked in there ready to spend some serious money. Scott explained to me that he had spent the past week searching for another used Q2 of the same grade and one had just been traded in at another store. Although this camera had already been graded, Scott wanted to do his own testing and inspection before contacting me. As it stood, this replacement one was in serious mint condition. It was as though it had never left the box. As always, the level of service at the Birmingham store is exceptional. Every member of staff, the store manager (Adele) included always spend time getting to know their customers, and forever showing an interest in the customers photography. I've said it before and it will say it again. I have visited camera stores all over the UK, and hands down, Wex Birmingham crushes each and every one of them, and they have never let me down.    Read moreAfter associating with Adele Downing at Wex Birmingham for over ten years, as, I hope, a loyal customer, I feel it is time to write a review to celebrate Adele's outstanding professionalism and personal service. I don't normally believe in the world of writing reviews, for which we are endlessly asked (not by Wex), (for example as soon as you leave a Dentist's chair or buy a product from Amazon). However it is a delight to write this completely unsolicited message in respect of Adele. Adele is always ahead of the game in the sense that a request for particular equipment always receives an immediate response and this is accompanied by an animated set of recommendations and advice. I have experienced times when, while I knew which equipment I needed, Adele immediately came up with a product which did the job much better and which was often cheaper. Adele's attitude has never been to sell immediately but to sagely give recommendations, and as the customer, to make one feel reassured. It is almost as if one has a personal advisor at Wex. I have recommended Adele's services at Wex to a number of my professional Media and Photographer colleagues. They all commend Adele as really honest, reliable and deeply professional.
