Gennas Kitchen — Restaurant in Birmingham

This was my second time ordering from here. The first time, I thought it was quite pricey for what I received, but since it came to around £30, I didn’t think too much of it and assumed it might’ve been a one-off, especially given all the great reviews and the impressive Instagram presence.

However, my experience this time was really disappointing. I paid £40.84 (excluding delivery) for a combo meal with extras as a birthday treat to myself, and it just wasn’t worth it. The fries didn’t taste fresh, the prawns were overcooked and rubbery to the point I couldn’t eat them, and the minted lamb chops didn’t have any mint flavour at all. The lobster tail was tiny with barely any meat, and to top it off, the extra tub of chilli jam I paid for was missing.

Overall, I was really gutted. The only positives I can mention are that the flavours were generally good and the chilli jam wings were tasty — but the combo as a whole, and the quality for the price, just didn’t...

This is my all time favourite place to eat! I live quite a few miles away from their spot but I don’t mind travelling to taste this superb food that is always 10/10 🔥🔥🔥

I have been going for a few years now and never have I had a bad meal. The owner is amazing and friendly and consistent. Anyone who says Gennas kitchen isn’t the best place to eat in life… simply need their head checking! I honestly can’t tell you enough how truly amazing their food is. My friends and family have all got involved and agree it’s simply elite! I’ve tried most of the menu, so much choice and everything is made with love, but my favourite, if I had to pick which is super hard is the seafood boil 🥰 too many options but these guys know how to make a tummy very happy! Whole meal was a write off. I ended up having toast for dinner. The dish looked nothing like the pics. The mac n cheese was incredibly dry and looked NOTHING like the pics. Hardly any chilli jam sauce. Lamb was just pure fat and bone and the sauce that the prawns came in was tasteless. Took a couple bites and chucked the whole thing in the bin.

If you’re ordering, don’t rely on the pics too much. They claim they’ve changed how they prepare food and that’s why the pics on Uber eats look different to what you’re actually given. Called the restaurant and they weren’t willing to do anything about it....
