I waked in on a Monday evening as I had to do some work in the area and wanted some Turkish foods. I was greeted very nicely by the staff and was seated promptly as there was only one other family in the restaurant. Me, my wife and my daughter was seated with the waitress getting a high chair for my daughter. We then was politely given the menu and had given our order after 5 minutes to which we was given our drinks 5 minutes later which was good. We received bread and 3 sauces whilst our food was getting prepared, i orderd lamb adaan with fries and my wife ordered fries as she wasn’t hungry and we ordered a kids meal for my daughter chicken nuggets and fries. I was very disappointed that there was no shwarma as it’s like a staple food in any traditional Turkish restaurants, My meal looked like 1 lamb Shish kebab and 5 small pieces of lamb pieces probably 1inch big per piece and the portion of fries could be described as the same as a medium fries at Mc Donald’s but slightly spread around the plate to make it look more than what it was. My wife’s fries was separate but in a bigger plate and my daughter had maybe 7 chicken nuggets with some fries. My food, the Shish and lamb chunks has no taste and the fries was small, my daughters chicken nuggets had no flavour and could only be described as possible frozen nuggets deep fried but had zero flavour. We ordered drinks also which was 2 cokes at £1.95 per can. Once we had eaten our meal which wasn’t difficult as the portions was tiny the waitress who was kind enough gave us some what she described as traditional Turkish tea but i have been to many restaurants and this was just Normal tea with a hint of cinnamon in it. Nothing special (it was complimentary) with some Turkish delight, the Turkish delight was the cheap kind the kind that taste like all jelly and powder sprinkled on top, not very good. This whole bill came to £29. If this bill was between £10-20, one can just about part ways with their money but when it’s £30. You feel like you have been robbed especially when there was no flavour to any of the food and the portions was tiny, Just stay away as it’s too expensive for...
Read moreNot as good as people seem to believe. I went today ordered wings but asked for chips instead of rice & bulgar this was obviously misunderstood I was brought both meaning I was charged extra for the chips and was told you cant swap these items. This is the first time I have come across this in any Turkish restaurant does not say that on the menu either.
The wings were not cooked well enough, the coals were clearly not hot enough to char them just enough to cook them, there were no flames.
I sent the chicken back and asked for it to be cooked more they came back the same.
When I attempted to try them it was cooked just as there was still a pinkish colour and I could see the little hairs that I never see as the flames from the charcoal usually deals with this. I was then told I had to pay the full price £18.50.
The man that cooked the food said that if I wanted it well done I need to say that, which I have never had to do in 20 years eating Turkish food I have never had to send the food back to be grilled further.
Also I think he forgot I had already sent the wings back once asking for them to be cooked more and he still was unable to do this, so I did ask for it to be cooked more as he said I should have.
Then he said they changed meat supplier, which has nothing to do with how he cooked it.
He then went onto tell me about 20 tables he cooked for but I am talking about my experience on this occasion not anyone else. Clearly he was upset that he didnt cook my food well nor had the grill at an appropriate temperature to be able to cook my food well.
There is no decent Turkish food place in Birmingham I will wait until I go to London or Turkey again. oh the salad was ok and the lady serving me was nice...
Read moreVery rude and unwelcoming. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!
The owner or wannabe owner sits on her phone messaging people on Facebook whilst ordering one waitress around like a slave. Things that she can do herself as a owner, like ask customers how the food is, she makes the poor waitress come over to her just to pass that message on. They tried to be very sneaky and not give items on the platter that we paid for! The chefs special includes “lamb donor” but we were told it is “COMPLIMENTARY” how is something on the menu that is included in the platter that WE pay for complimentary? I did mention the bread is complimentary not the donner and that as a customer I am giving you a critic/review to where I was rudely and immediately cut out by the words “NO IT IS COMPLIMENTARY”. She continued on to saying “well you should have asked us if you wanted Donner” which isn’t my job as a customer when you sit me down you should tell me that the donner is unavailable and we can offer X item or Y item in substitute the reason why I opted for the platter was cause it had all the items. She clearly can’t handle pressure no wonder the business is dead quiet. I think the owner has no knowledge how to run a business or the words out of her mouth. Credit to the chef who came over and sorted it, this is the same chef from the old management and from what I see of the reviews you can tell when this new “manager” took over cause everyone else seems to have the same problems in...
