Extremely Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience – Never Returning
I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent experience at this establishment with my wife and children was so upsetting that I feel compelled to warn others.
We visited the restaurant twice in two days. On the first visit, I paid £27 for what turned out to be the most overpriced and lowest-quality meal I’ve had in the UK. What was even more shocking was the rude and dismissive behaviour from the staff. I was looked at as if I was begging for food – an experience that left me humiliated in front of my wife and children.
Despite this, I decided to give the restaurant another chance the next day, believing perhaps it was just a one-off. Unfortunately, it was worse.
Upon entering, we were not greeted, not welcomed – instead, we were immediately asked, “Are you eating here or taking away?” with zero warmth or courtesy. We politely replied we were taking away, and were told in a cold tone that we were not allowed to sit at a table, and instead must stand and order from the entrance area.
I attempted to explain that I already knew what I wanted and just needed one minute to check the menu before placing an order worth £136. Before I could finish, a man came out aggressively and told my wife: “Get out, get out, get out!” — three times, with a hostile and discriminatory tone that shocked us all. My wife was visibly shaken. When I asked him calmly, “Where should we sit then?”, he pointed to the entrance, where there were only three chairs and cold air blowing through. We are a family of four.
I decided not to engage further with such demeaning treatment. I handed back the menu and said, “Thank you,” and we walked out.
What we experienced on both visits includes: • Disrespectful treatment • Poor hygiene and chaotic environment • Staff standing around talking while customers are ignored • A complete lack of professionalism or hospitality • Racially insensitive behaviour that made my family feel unwelcome and dehumanised
I would not return even if it were the last restaurant in the city, and I would never recommend it — not even to an enemy.

Let's start with the absolute highlight, the seafood. It was, without a doubt, a masterpiece. Every dish we sampled was of exceptional quality incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The preparation demonstrated a clear understanding and passion for seafood, making each bite a genuine culinary delight. If you're purely coming for the taste and the quality of the ingredients, this restaurant delivers in spades. It's rare to find seafood prepared with such finesse and for that alone, it almost warrants a visit.
However, the stellar quality of the food was unfortunately overshadowed by a significantly lacking service. The staff while pleasant when engaged, were noticeably inattentive. On a number of occasions, we found ourselves waiting an unacceptably long time to get their attention for basic requests such as to order, ask for another drink, or even to get the bill. It reached a point where I had to get out of my seat multiple times and physically approach a staff member to be served. This constant need to seek out assistance was disruptive and frankly, detracted significantly from what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
In summary If you are a die-hard seafood lover who values exceptional taste above all else and don't mind a very hands-on approach to getting service, then you might overlook the attentiveness issues for the sake of the food. However, for those who seek a seamless, attentive, and overall pleasant dining experience from start to finish, the service here needs considerable improvement. With such an outstanding kitchen, it's a shame the front of house doesn't yet match that high standard. I sincerely hope they address these service gaps, as this restaurant has the potential to be truly...
Read moreI’ve been a fan of Jimmy’s Killer Prawns since visiting the Leicester branch a few years ago, which was an incredible experience. Naturally, I was excited to visit the Birmingham branch with my family. We spent £234 on our meal, and while some dishes were enjoyable, the experience left us a bit disappointed.
The signature dish—Jimmy’s Killer Prawns—fell short of expectations. The prawns, unfortunately, were overcooked, resulting in a crumbly texture similar to cardboard rather than the juicy, meaty prawns I remember. This issue carried over to both the boil and the platter, which were also crumbly and lacked the enjoyable texture we were hoping for.
That said, there were some highlights. The garlic bread was excellent—rich, creamy, and perfectly cheesy. It stood out as the best part of the meal. My family also tried the steak, which, while flavorful, was a little too chewy. The platter, though tasty, could have used more sauce to elevate the dish further, and the boil would have benefited from bolder, sharper flavors.
Interestingly, a friend of mine visited a week later and reported that the prawns were perfectly cooked—meaty and delicious—so it seems consistency might be an area for improvement.
On a positive note, the staff were polite and attentive, which made the experience pleasant despite the food issues. I chose not to mention the concerns to the team, understanding that the branch is new and may still be ironing out a few teething problems.
Overall, I’d rate the experience a 6/10. I hope the restaurant can maintain consistency in its signature dishes moving forward, as I know what they’re capable of delivering when they’re...
