Reading the other reviews about Jyoti's really intrigued me to go and see for myself whether the "despicable" restaurant was actually as bad as the reviews had said.I mean, i didn't think Jaime Oliver visited restaurants that weren't of a good standard...Anyway, what did i find? Authentic Indian cuisine at its best. Not only are the waiters polite and the decor beautiful with lovely Indian cultural pictures all around, but the food was to die for. I had the paneer tikka masala whilst my friend enjoyed his masala dhosa. Both dishes came to us pleasantly presented and fully flavored and i swear, it felt like i was back in India. The price of the food was great considering the quality and before leaving we had to nip into the sweet centre and take home some barfi which i recommend as they tasted like little drops of heaven. No less. Overall, Bad reviews about this restaurant must be part of some personal vendetta about the owners success because i honestly couldn't find a single bad thing to say about the food or the atmosphere. Jaime Oliver was right to...
Read moreThe chilli paneer was flooded with so much oil that I think I have cholesterol!! The masala Puri was nice as an accompaniment. Masala dhosa which was small and overly filled with the potato mix which were plain and had literally no taste - like a mushed baked potato with tumeric!
The bher was not authentic at all! It’s literally homemade chevdo that they sell with a sprinkling of some chickpeas and onions, they gave the chutney separately which meant it wasn’t soggy when taking it home which was good.
The samosas, they were filled with peppery mashed potatoes - Punjabi style rather than Gujarati as requested. The spring roll and kachori were nice.
The staff are friendly. We waited 30 mins for the food as they made most of it on order which I appreciate. However, the quality of the food is not up to scratch, it’s not authentic, and to be honest it was definitely not with the money...
Read moreAfter seeing many positive comments, I went to the restaurant with my wife. Being a south Indian and a vegetarian I find the food not at all authentic or tasty. I started with idly and was surprised to see 2 mini idlies which were very hard to eat and the chutney (assumed because of white color) was actually desicated cocunut mixed with water. After seeing the dosa ordered by someone we skipped dosa or any typical south indian dish and we ordered a thali which was equally worse. The curries were all the same with different vegetables and ofcourse was tastless. Rice was hard but not very hard as idly.
Papadam and the sweets were the only consolation. I will never ever go to this place again even if someone if someone is willing to pay for my food.
I would have been satisfied if the hotel people at least had a smiling face. And the price was too costly for...
