Upon arrival I chose to sit in the family room as i was with my family including three women, as soon as we made ourselves comfortable there was a man behind us who thought it was the best time to start cutting his nails with a nail clipper then cutting his children's nails too, i have never been so disgusted in my entire life. The room was also disgusting with two separate tables and one long table which we were sitting on. a lovely couple decided to sit on the other half of the table, as the male went downstairs to order a somalian women decided to come and she practically sat on top of this woman before she had to tell her that her husband was coming back upstairs so she was forced to move along the table whilst this woman and her family sat next to her. Awkward. Once the families food arrived they didn't bother using cutlery which isn't a problem except for the fact the male was grabbing the food with his whole fist and shoveling it into his mouth then shaking the excess food off his hand, sucking on chicken bones then putting the same bones back onto the tray that they were all sharing. Hygiene? I carried on watching as the woman used a spoon, took a heap full of food onto it, put into her mouth, chewed it and spat it back out onto her hand, then put it back into her mouth. So were safe to say I was put off my food which was cold anyway and I never want to step foot back into that place, i wouldnt even call it a restaurant. I feel sick writing this review so you can tell how disgusting it...
Read moreUnacceptable Standards and Lack of Professionalism "Ne nau speaka English"
We visited Momos Birmingham based on a client recommendation, with expectations of a quality, service oriented experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell far below any acceptable standard.
Upon arrival, a staff member was seen eating directly from the food warmer in full view of customers, an alarming breach of basic hygiene and food safety practices.
Attempting to place an order proved difficult due to a language barrier, the staff member claimed not to speak English and could not answer basic questions about the menu. Repeated requests for the advertised salad component of the meal were ignored. When it came time to pay, card payments were not accepted, a red flag for any business today. However, the same staff member who "did not speak English" suddenly communicated clearly to request a bank transfer. This inconsistency, combined with the overall lack of structure, raises serious concerns about the establishment’s operational standards.
From a business perspective, this was not only a poor customer service experience, but also a failure of fundamental hospitality principles. There was no professionalism, no attention to detail, and no accountability.
We do not recommend this venue and urge management to review staffing, hygiene practices, and customer service protocols if they intend to operate as a legitimate...
Read moreHave had Momo’s a few times but a long time ago so I thought I’d try it again. I bought the £30 platter for 5 which was a true dish for 5/6 for a normal family that doesn’t eat too much/less. The platter comes with a free 1.5litre bottled drink. I also got a large fries on the side. Overall it looks great. There were noodles, rice, kebab (sheesh style) and chicken. I don’t think the noodles go with it but they are nice tbh. There was supposed to be lamb which is the main reason I bought this however there was little to none. 2 lamb pieces full of bone and fat, no lamb chops or shredded lamb which was disappointing since it’s Yemeni cuisine. Majority of the meat was chicken which was dry with no flavour unfortunately. Overall the flavours didn’t go well together. Fries were okay. I would prefer a platter from Bayt-Al-Yemeni but haven’t tried Momo’s set meals yet so not too sure about them. Overall decent place, good price but platters are majority rice and chicken, there was no lamb for me but maybe it was a one-off. Would come again but to to try the set meals, not the platter. Written with full honesty...
