My visit at this restaurant on Saturday at 5:30pm. We were greeted and welcomed by a staff as we approached the entrance. The decor of the restaurant was nice and looked clean. Sadly, that's where all the positives end.
We was a table of 30 who booked 2 weeks in advance for a birthday party. We informed the waiter as we are a big group we would like to place our order as 5 seperate orders each order having a name which would make it easier for the server and when it comes to paying the bill. Orders were placed close to 6pm. We knew the food might take slightly longer than usual but over 2 hours was atrocious!! We had elders, a pregnant women and children who were getting agitated and hungry waiting. Everytime a waiter was prompted they kept saying 5 minutes. This 5 minutes turned to and 20 mins and we would ask again and we would get the same 5 min reply. Throughout the whole period no complimentary water, drinks or even poppadoms were offered let alone an apology for their delay.
Two of the five groups had some of it's food arriving at 8:15pm leaving the rest of the people within the group without food aswel as the rest our group. The food quality was poor for the price you are paying. The Shatkora Donner we ordered did not have any taste of Shatkora. The Donner meat was rubbery luke warm and was very tastless it had this weird taste to it. The Seabass was edible. It had a hint of spice. The fried rice served with the fish was stingy looked like they garnished rice around the fish but I'm glad as it was tastless. We also had the Chicken Tikka Biryani. One of the worst Biryanis i've eaten. I was hesitant ordering a Biryani from a Bengali restaurant and they didn't prove me wrong. It tasted like a bland curry mixed with some basmati rice. The Biryani sauce which accompanied with it was a pot of curried onion gravy. The gravy had more flavour then the Biryani. Moving onto the Parmesan Chicken. How can you go wrong with this?! You surely did!! Portions were very small for the price. It was supposed to be loaded. It had a few pieces of cold donner meat on top. The only thing it was loaded with was oil dripping as I was picking it up with my fork.
Overall the whole experience at this restaurant was awful. Service was appalling, staff were clueless and did not have any remorse of their hospitality. The food was as bad as their service and definitely rushed to to get to the table. If you want food like this then please go Grillz on Coventry Road. I understand big tables can get a little challenging but how do you get simple food this wrong and how do you expect diners to wait over 2 hours for food. I don't know if it was just that day but I don't see myself going back to this place anytime soon. Not a place I would be...
Read moreOmbre has a good vibe. Quality food and great service.
I was really impressed by the chilli dip they gave with the poppadoms and the Naga sauce that came with the Steak.
All in all great experience.
One thing I would definitely recommend is get a better quality steak. The lamb chops where more tender than the sirloin steak. Another slight recommendations is use good quality glass mineral water rather than serving plastic volvic bottles, it doesn't suit the decor of the whole restaurant.
However our experience from te starters all the way to the desserts was fantastic.
For starters we had the Dynamite prawns which were fully loaded and they weren't shy on the prawns. The crispy batter complimented the spicy sauce and crispy coleslaw. We also ordered the lamb chops which tasted delicious. The marinate was very favourable and the meat deliciously tender. This definitely enhanced our taste buds for the main course. To be honest this was so delicious that I ordered 2 portions of the Dynamite prawns and Lamb chops to go after our meal.
For the mains we has the Sirloin steak and mix plater for 1. The steak wasn't the best in quality if im honest, it was rubbery and tough even though we ordered it medium rare. However the spicy chips and Naga steak sauce made up for it. The mix platter was prepared fresh and the waiter exchanged the chips for egg fried rice instead. The salad garnish on the side were also fresh and not stale like normal curry houses.
We just about had enough space for the desserts which seems home prepared rather than being made in house. The chocolate fudge cake was very light and delicate and was just perfect. The concrete cake However was very dence and thick, you may want to tweak this alittle and put your own signature presentation while serving.
Overall it was a great experience and I will be coming back with my whole family, to try out the rest of the menu. I forgot to also mention that they have ample of space when it comes to large booking and booths are very comfortable.
Keep up...
Read moreMe and my friend came to this restaurant and I ordered the wings as a starter the lamb steak as a main with onion rings and pina colada mojito. At first the server was very friendly and when the wings came it was not cooked through properly almost like it was boiled and sauce was poured over it. I spoke with him and asked if he could take it back to the kitchen to be cooked more throughly which he did and I told him I appreciated the gesture. The wings came back and I noticed hair on them and just to not be a pain I did not report it and had high hopes for the mains although the server already came to tell me they were out of pina colada mojito. When the lamb steam came it also tasted like boiled meat and the quality of the food was very poor. A home cooked dinner would have tasted better. I spoke to one of the managers and explained everything to him clarifying the fact that I had not eaten the mains and he continued to go back and forth with me and say he could not take it off the bill despite me explaining that my friend and I were happy to pay for everything else even the starters that were unsatisfactory. To my shock he sat down with two other guests a table away from us and began to talk badly about us to them. The same server came back and I explained very thing to him and he also stated he could not take the one main off the bill but discount it every though I had barely eaten anything from the main. His stance was that other restaurants wouldn’t normally take an item off the bill if it was unsatisfactory which is blatantly untrue. We even had to go all the way to the front to chase this up because they took long to get back to us. Eventually the manager decided to take off the lamb steak and mentioned that he doesn’t normally do it. Overall I wouldn’t recommend coming here to eat if you are interested in good quality food and...
