For a Saturday night booking. Made on the day. For 12 people. This was a great experience and one I would recommend to others.
Firstly, we were running late. And they held the tables for us. Then we had an issue because the numbers went up to 15 and we weren't able to access one of the tables. As we had a wheelchair bound individual with us. The hosts made moved things around to cater for us. Bear in mind this is a busy Saturday night. We had no issues entering or exiting. I would say this play is wheelchair accessible and provides good seating for a large group.
All that before we even got to the food. The food was delicious. We had loaded brisket, sliced brisket and a small rib on my table. No one on my table found anything to complain about. We all enjoyed it, and the medium size that we ordered was more than enough for an adult to eat comfortably. Whilst we had no issue with the smoked bbq flavouring we asked for. Others from our group said that it was too smoked/too barbecue. So make of they what you will. I enjoyed it.
The ribs came with a salad and we asked no onions and no chilli. Now I've been to places where they get that wrong. But not this place. Food came exactly as well ordered it. Despite it being a really busy night. Very impressive.
Price worked out to whatever you would pay per head at any other restaurant. The menu is available online.
I was also quite impressed by the ordering system. Just go to the till when ready and place your order. Then pay right away.
Those are all the pros, now for the cons:
Waiting for food: When we placed the order, we were told it would take 30 minutes. We had already taken some time getting seated and looking through the menu. So it ended up being a long evening for us. Admittedly, the food did come in the time we were told. So that can be also be a plus. Also, it was opening night and the place was heaving. I would recommend, if you're waiting to be seated. Look through the menu then, and when the table is assigned. Place your order. You'll save time.
Parking: It's on Stratford road. So go there knowing you'll have to look for parking and you'll be driving around looking for it. It's a joke. Best thing. Get your driver's order. Rest of you can go in and wait/order. Whilst driver parks up. See above point.
Prayer room: Unfortunately, a prayer room was not available. It was opening night so there are still things left to sort. And I believe that is on the agenda. But if you do go, just bear in mind that that MAY be a problem.
As you can see. No negatives about the food or service. Greta place to eat. I would...
Read moreIn the most constructive way possible, there are major improvements required. This was my first visit and given its 2nd branch, i would say these guys need to up their game for Bham. The atmosphere is fab, lovely welcome 10/10 reservation/seating/ vibes are good! But the food - presentation is key, we paid £180+ for our food to be luke warm wrapped in foil? If this was a takeout i get it 100%, but we're here for a birthday meal, the presentation needs more attention to detail please, nothing fancy but the way the ribs and brisket was served was so disappointing. The neighbouring table said the same so clearly theres work needed there. The ribs are good, soft succulent and nice. Brisket was not up to par. Paying for XXL and recieving slim thin slices was a joke. This is where management need to go out and visit other smoke houses, understand that youre weighing up meat for a crazy price. The sauces were really terrible, nothing special. As a customer honestly you compare because its our right to do so. Theres a local smoke house who serve one sauce homemadenand drizzled - their quality cut of meat and tenderness is defo worth visiting and then please compare this to what youre serving.
Lastly, for the price of meat and average spend essily being £25-30+ per person, please remove this nandos concept nonsense. Itd offputting. Im talking about grabbing your own cutlery and napkins. Please its tacky and unpro and put off. The drafts are reasonable, but the plates and cutlery service really make you think, this isnt a cheap meal, were spending goodmoney, so good service is required. Dessert is also very pricey, with no compliment#ry ice cream? Thats just a bump £6 for a slice of bought cake, the customers dont expect free ies but price and marketing is insane.
I do wish pittmasters to thrive, but as a business these areas need looking at. Lastly, the toilets were appalling, having being opened for two days and not maintaining it every other hour, cmon its just wet everywhere and theres soo many staff walking around, management please do not take my review as a bad word, but if you improve these areas and make your dishes look more presentable like your menu images, then you...
Read moreUpon arriving at Pitmasters, I was greeted by an empty dining room, which made me question whether dining here was the right choice. However, the attentive staff quickly alleviated my concerns, delivering excellent service throughout our visit. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, creating a comfortable atmosphere.
For our group of five, the bill totaled £110, or about £22 per person, which seemed pricey given the experience. The £10 burgers, in particular, were disappointing. The patties had the texture and taste of frozen meat, and the portion size was slightly smaller than expected. Frankly, I wouldn’t have spent more than £5 on them, as they seemed cheaply made and lacked the quality one would expect from a barbecue-focused establishment.
The loaded fries, on the other hand, were a redeeming feature. Both the rib-loaded and brisket-loaded options were flavorful, with tender meat served over fries. While they were enjoyable, they still felt a bit expensive for what is essentially an enhanced side dish.
Overall, Pitmasters leaves room for improvement, especially in the quality and pricing of its burgers. The loaded fries and the attentive service make it worth considering for a future visit, but I’d only return specifically for the fries, as they were the standout...
