Romantica Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Birmingham

Recently visited Romantica for the first time, and I was impressed. We didn't have a booking but we were seated very quickly and offered drinks while we perused the menu.

Excellent menu choice of Pasta & Grill's.

Traditional looking restaurant in a good location and far superior to some of the chain restaurants within the local area.

Food was well presented and fresh, and the table was served very well.

The prices are on the higher side for food & drink, but this is complemented with good size portions. The side order of seasonal veg is excellently portioned & fresh.

We will return again.

Revisited Romantica on 19/02/20 for dinner, and again the service & food was excellent.

I did not make a booking, but again I was welcomed in and seated with no fuss.

As I suggested in my first review, the prices are on the high side, but once again this was complemented with freshly prepared food with generous positions. And the table was served excellently.

To date, I have visited twice and both occasions have to be 5/5.

We will return again in the not too distant future. Keep up the good work...

I've been here many times over the past few years and I've always found the food ,service and atmosphere hard to beat. My meal on this occasion was up to the usual excellent standard. However , I found that upon ordering the slow cooked pork belly I was told it came with gravy only. I felt this was a little cheeky as this item alone was close to £18. I realised that I needed to order a number of sides ( priced at between £3 and £5 each) to make up a reasonable meal. I'm disappointed that this restaurant has decided that this is the way to increase the price of a meal by offering add ons, and frankly I felt ripped off. Now I realise I could have considered the excellent value lunch menu , but this was a special occasion where I decided on something different. Had a lovely dinner last night at Romantica. It's always worth spending a little more for good quality food. While they did have a few fabulous specials on, I decided to go with the lamb chops instead. There are no side dishes with the main meal, one is required to order each item separately. I decided on mushrooms and dauphinoise. The dessert menu looked amazing, but due to the large portions, even though I only ate half, there wasn't any space for a morsel of dessert. I would have preferred a smaller portion. I know some restaurants offer a lady's portion, but in today's society that may no longer be politically correct, however true.
