Sophie's — Restaurant in Birmingham

I had heard good things about this fish and chip shop so wanted to give a go! Myself and my partner went around 7.30 and there was one person eating in and just us ordering. The lady taking our order was more interested in arguing with another customer saying that his order was right and saying that the customer was wrong . She had a right attitude and was chewing gum and rolling her eyes and wasn’t taking any notice to us at all. Once it came to serving up she asked me 3 times if I wanted salt and vinegar and I said just salt on everything and she continued to put vinegar on everything and then looked at me and said “I’ve just put vinegar on them whoops, it will be ok though won’t it” I just didn’t want the confrontation I had just witnessed with the other customer. Then she put a normal sausage on my partners order when he asked for a battered sausage and then argued with me saying “ I think I know what I heard” “battered sausages take 7 minutes” and the man who cooks the food looked really angry and told the ladies who were taking orders they needed to pay more attention. I knew she wasn’t listening to me and we knew what we had ordered I wasn’t impressed at all and won’t be...

Went in to order fish and chips at 9.30pm. There were specials boards on the right that said 'Served 12-5pm' so we ignored them and looked at the boards over the counter. One of the boards said 'Served all day' so I ordered off that only to be told that I could not have the special as it was served until 5pm only, to which I replied 'but it says all day'. There was a man who said ‘yes it does say that but it is only till 5pm’ and I replied you need to change your signs then as it is misleading. The woman behind the counter then said quite rudely 'if the gaffer was here he'd say it says served all day not all evening'.

We left without buying food.

Firstly, you need to learn to be polite.

Secondly, if something is only served until 5pm it should say that and the excuse of ‘served all day not all evening’ does not hold as why would the other boards say until 5pm – totally...

Wow how times have changed. I used to use this place a lot and I still do go occasionally now. In fact this place was so nice I would even travel here when I moved house to Witton. Now again living on the better half of town I ventured bk to sophies. The tikka meat although nice isn't like it used to be. It used to be soft and melt in the mouth now its just the same as anywhere else to be honest. The cheek to charge extra on an already over inflated price (highest price in area) for sauce to go on the kebab and for the accompanying salad just brings this already eye watering meal over my price range. I have now ventured to another chip shop nearby where the price is lower and you get a bigger portion. Dont try to rest on the past cuz this was once so popular you had a queue 2 deep outside now there's no queue. Whether this is price or quality I don't know but I...
