My previous experience of this pub has been fine, well mediocre really. In the summer months it was a nice place to come & have a drink & some food & relax in the garden, purely down to it being walking distance & next to my children's school.๐ It was cheap & cheerful.๐ค However, my judgement on the place only a few months later has dramatically changed.๐ Im not sure if management has recently changed or what it is, but this pub seriouly is, slowly & surely being run into the ground.๐ด
About 3 weeks ago we took our children here for a Sunday dinner. We were told there would be no vegetables apart from peas, but still we agreed to have the sunday dinner as time was getting on. ๐After waiting almost 40 minutes we questioned what was taking so long, their response was, 'we're waiting on the gravy'! ๐ฒSERIOUSLY 40 minutes for GRAVY! ๐ฒAnyway the dinner arrived & it was horrendous & the gravy still hadn't come out, so when we requested the gravy & it came out in a bowl we just laughed. ๐ญApparently there were no gravy jugs so we had to do with spooning it onto our dinners! ๐ช
The dinner was so bland & so plain looking as everything was the same colour because of the missing vegetables, it was not appetizing at all.๐ฉ After waiting so long & yet the chicken was COLD! ๐จThe roast potatoes had been overcooked & stuck under a warm lamp too long so they were as hard as bricks & the peas were also cold! ๐ทThe only edible thing on that plate was the yorkshire pudding. ๐ We had to complain & we got a full refund but ended up in McDonald's for a very late & unhealthy meal. Not pleased!๐ค
Today with all the snow we thought about walking to The Navigation for dinner (not a Sunday dinner). We called to make sure they were open & also serving food & the person we spoke to said yes to everything.๐ Happy & looking forward to a meal with the children we took the 20 minute slippery walk down to the pub, ๐คค cold & shivery when we arrived but happy & excited to be able to sit down & have some grub. ๐
On arrival we were greeted by the manager who eagerly bought to our attention that the serving of food had finished 10 minutes ago!!! ๐So after having been comforted by the person on the telephone that food would be served & walking the snowy 20 minutes to get there to be told food was no longer available we are yet again, left hungry & angry by the same pub!๐๐
I have no positive ๐ comments left to say about this pub anymore & the manager Martin seriously needs to get a grip & start running this pub as it's meant to be run. โน I can't be the only completely unsatisfied customer that won't entertain the thought of visiting this pub for food again. ๐คIts a shambles & its such a shame to see a pub with so much potential being left to...
ย ย ย Read moreOk, I frequently visit this venue sometimes more than twice a week and every single time we order drinks the Gin glasses have the remains of the lipstick and grime from the last person's lips from the night before. Today, we ordered a Gin and what do you know, the glass had red lipstick on it, we immediately told the server that the glass had lipstick on it and if we could have a fresh glass perhaps one with no residue off another person on it. She almost snatched the glass off us, cut her eye and walked off in a huff. What she didn't realise is one of our party members went to get a hot drink from the machine which is located close to the bar area where the large server went to exchanged the glass and over heard the large one, moaning and laughing about the fact that we asked for the glass to be exchanged and she was quite frankly trying to take the mick, she wiped the dirty glass with a tissue and started laughing with her colleague, the member of our party that was at the hot drinks machine said excuse me ill take that if you don't mind and the big one almost crapped her knickers not realising she got caught out and she went red faced. Anyway we never finished the drink as who in the right mind would drink from a glass with someone else's germs on it? Would you drink from a glass or eat with cutlery that still has food remains on it from a stranger? That is the most disgusting thing ever! The server girl must think its fine to accept a dirty glass and drink from it, tbf by the looks of her it wouldn't surprise me, I can only imagine what her own home is like or what her hygiene is like. So to round this up, beware of the dirty glasses, also the cutlery is nearly always dirty aswel and we have to either ask for cleaner ones or clean them ourselves, but be prepared to get a dirty look when you call them out about their glasses as most can't be bothered to walk back to the bar and back to the table maybe due to lack of energy and motivation? Perhaps on weekends Wetherspoons can employ staff with some manners, respect, decency and with some enthusiasm, serving with a moody face is not what customers want to see when spending money at an establishment like Wetherspoons, but then again this is not the only Wetherspoons where this kind of staff work. There seems to be a common theme happening recently within this company, oh and the new gourmet burgers are not good at all. The grilled food was much better, Wetherspoons is going backwards with their new menu, shame really. Only thing they have going for them is the price of their drinks, when you get a clean...
ย ย ย Read moreOrdered chicken bites and quorn nuggets from the menu . The waitress came over with 4 baskets advising 2 were chicken and two were vegetarian. I questioned the quorn nuggets as they looked just like the chicken nuggets . I was advised that they nuggets I was given weโre definitely quorn . I proceeded to bite in to one only to realise that o had been served meat . My husband took the nuggets from me to try one and confirmed my fears . Both myself and my daughter have been vegetarian for many years . The absolute horror and anxiety that this caused was awful . We complained to the manager and her response was that we should have known they were chicken as they were served with the JD sauce . Firstly Iโd like to point out at Christmas when we came to your pub they had no salsa sauce so we were served a different sauce to salsa . Secondly I ask the waitress 3 times of the nuggets weโre definitely quorn . My daughter is autistic and if she had have been the one to eat that it would have caused a whole new world of pain . Thirdly there was no real apology as the manager wanted to blame us for not checking the sauce . We clearly asked 3 times if the nuggets weโre definitely quorn and we were told yes . Iโm horrified that I have eaten meat when I clearly ordered quorn nuggets and asked 3 times to ensure they were.
Emailed to complain was offered a voucher that was never received. I did feel fit the waitress as she looked mortified but management are appalling. To blame us for the mistake is...
