The Sutton Park Hotel — Restaurant in Birmingham

Visited the pub for lunch with my mother who has been very unwell of late and wanted to treat her to something she enjoys. She often will get the bus and order the small plate fish and chips. She's been going on about it for months now and sadly due to her health she's not been eating very well. Thankfully her appetite is back and boy did the fish and chips live up to her tales. We got to the pub and was served by Charlotte. She was extremely helpful polite and courteous. I mentioned that mum said the fish was slightly greasy the last time she had it. She said she would speak to the chef (Jamie). She did and the both meals.....small fish and ultimate plate fish was absolutely spot on. Perfect thin fresh and crispy.......we really enjoyed our food and our visit to the pub. Some aspects of the pub need work in terms of presentation. Light bulb casings out in the car park were all smashed up and missing and some aspects of the interior was dated and in need of some tlc. You need to keep original features and be sure to upgrade things like wall paper....tiling etc etc. Hopefully this will help Charlotte secure a refurb. I would definitely recommend this pub for the service and fish and chips. Looking forward to coming back monthly with mum for the food...

Thought I would try this place today for a change went with my wife and children it was clear from the start there was not enough staff to run the place In fact I only saw one working behind the bar and it seemed doing the food we sat at a table close to another table by a window with six men sitting at it they seemed to get special treatment even shouting from the table when they wanted a drink and the swearing coming from the table was disgusting at several points the manager a woman called Anne made an appearance she just let them do as they liked then when I thought it couldn't get any worse a man sitting at the table with a bald head was talking about drugs and then with my own eyes I saw him selling drugs the boyfriend if the manager knows them and seems to turn a blind eye to it I have now reported this to the police worst day of my life I was really worried for the safety...

Looked great after refurbishing. Thought as was local we would book a table for 18/8/23. We arrived on time, there was a live band setting up which we thought looked great. Unfortunately the band was so loud you couldn’t talk. I stood at the bar for 20mins trying to get someone’s attention to tell us where our table was to no avail. There was no one to to greet you on entering either. So hence the star rating. Would have been better if we could possibly have tried the food. I expected it to be busy just opening hence we booked the table but the poor staff were run off their feet and customers still couldn’t get service and staff couldn’t hear what was being ordered if you got that far. Badly organised. Maybe try again in a few months when they sort themselves out. Sorry for what must have been a no show on...
